Smt MMK College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai: Admission 2025, Courses, Fees, Cutoff, Placements, Ranking

As a reputed institution of higher education, Smt. MMK College of Commerce and Economics is located in Bandra, Mumbai. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has granted the college a 'B' grade, with courses in commerce, management, and mass communication being highlighted. Admissions are aimed to be inclusive at Smt. MMK College so that candidates are selected on merit to have all deserving candidates accommodated with programs of their choice.

As for which the college admission process takes place, it mostly follows the same calendar as the University of Mumbai to which the school is affiliated.

The eligibility criteria laid down for different programs differ for different programs. For undergraduate programs like B.Com and BMS, any student who has completed their 10+2 from any recognized school or board is provided a chance to apply. For postgraduate programs like M.Com Accountancy, a recognized degree at the bachelor's level in the relevant subject is compulsory. With all this, the college also considers students’ performance in academic assessments preceding admission or, for some programs, scores in an entrance examination.

Application Process

In this procedure, applicants would usually follow these steps:

1. Announcement of Admissions: The college announces admission number on its website and in local leading newspapers.

2. Application Form: Candidates are required to obtain the application form and fill it in. It will either be available online on the college website or be obtained from the college admission office.

3. Document Submission: Along with the filled application form, candidates must submit duly attested copies of relevant documents such as:

• Mark Sheet of qualifying examinations (UG courses: 10th & 12th; PG courses: Bachelor's degree)
• Transfer certificate.     
• Migration certificate- if applicable.
• Caste certificate- for reserved category students.
• Recent passport-size photographs.

4. Application Fee: Candidates are to pay the application fee as notified. Payment mode and application fee amount will be notified through the instruction of application.

5. Merit List: The college prepares and publishes merit lists according to the criteria decided upon for each program. Such lists are displayed on the college notice board as well as on the website.

6. Counseling and Seat Allocation: The shortlisted candidates may be invited for a counseling procedure whereby they choose their desired course according to their merit rank and availability of seats.

7. Fee Payment: The selected candidates will confirm their admission by paying course fees within the time stipulated.

8. Document Verification: A final round of document verification is held by the college before confirming the admission.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Com: Smt. MMK College offers 720 admissions under the B.Com programme for applicants based on 12th standard examination marks.

BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies): There are 120 seats available for this programme . Admission is based on 12th standard marks as well as the possibility of college entrance testing or an interview.

M.Com Accountancy: There are 80 seats on this postgraduate program of Accountancy, requiring the student to be a B.Com or equivalent graduate.

B.Com in Financial Markets: This specialized B.Com program has an intake of 60 students. Selection will be based on 12th standard marks and possibly any other criteria decided upon by the college.

A specialized B.Com program with Banking and Insurance also has 60 seats available.  The admission procedure would be the same as in other B.Coms.

BA Multimedia and Mass Communication: The program has 60 seats as the total fee. The admission may consist of a mixture of 12th standard merit and some combination of aptitude test and/or an interview.
