About Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore

Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science (SRCAS) was started in the year 1987-88 as an independent institution in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, known as an autonomous institution. The Shri Ramswaroop College of Agriculture Sciences is spread over an area of 16 acres, and in the NIRF 2024 college ranking, the college stands at 56th position in the overall category. 

The college acknowledges itself by membership in NAAC and approval from AICTE and has 51 courses spread over 12 degree courses. SRCAS has student enrolment of 4501 and faculty members of 197; therefore, it has an active and growing academic population. The institute has a total of male students of 60% and female students of 40% at the undergrad level, while at the postgraduate level male students are of 57% and female students are of 43%.

SRCAS offers a number of well-equipped modern structures to facilitate the learning process of its learners. The college campus has well-established chemical and other practical laboratories, a rich and stocked library, and the latest IT facilities with internet facilities all over the college premise. Modern facilities for students include separate accommodation for boys and girls in hostels, a health centre, first aid facilities, a gym, and sports. The campus also comprises an auditorium, seminar, cafeteria, as well as ATM services. Moreover, SRCAS arranges transport facilities within and without Coimbatore city for its students and staff to facilitate their transport.

The institute provides all kinds of courses and coursework for students in all fields. Of the 51 courses, a vast majority are full courses and consist of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses. Generally, the admission process at SRCAS is most of the course based on merit only. However, for MBA programmes the admissions are granted through the TN-CET, known as the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test. The college recognises various standardised test scores, and for postgraduate students, TANCET is quite common. In the case of M.Phil. and Ph.D. candidates, they are selected based on the CET score conducted by Bharathiar University as well as their qualifying performance and an interview.

The scholarship opportunities at SRCAS are meant for deserving students. Accordingly, in the AY 2022, 2,440 undergraduate and 239 postgraduate students were given reimbursements to prove that the institute is working towards affordable quality education.
