Surendra Lal Das Teachers' Training College, Howrah Admission Process

Surendra Lal Das Teachers' Training College, Howrah, is located in Anandanagar, Nischinda, Bally, Howrah, West Bengal. The college teaches three specialized courses in education and is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Teachers' Training, Education Planning, and Administration (WBUTTEPA). The admission procedure at Surendra Lal Das Teachers' Training College is in accordance with the guidelines set up by WBUTTEPA along with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The institution is adamant in maintaining the standards of fairness and transparency in admission keeping in mind the Reservations for SC/ST/OBC/PH etc. according to the NCTE, WBUTTEPA, and the Government of West Bengal Guidelines.

Application Process

The application procedure for all programs at Surendra Lal Das Teachers' Training College, Howrah, will include the following steps:

1. Advertisement for Admission-a notice of start of the admission procedure is put out by the college on its official website and in other media

2. Filling Up of Application- The interested candidates should fill up the application form. The application could be filled up either online from the college website or downloaded from the college campus.

3. Document Submission After duly filling up the application, the candidate has to submit the application along with the necessary:

  • Certificates and mark sheets pertaining to the educational qualifications;
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC candidates);
  • Disability certificate (PH candidates);
  • Any other documents required by the college

4. Entrance Test- Besides, depending on varying courses and WBUTTEPA guidelines, entrance tests may be conducted for candidates.

5. Formation of Merit List: The merit list is drawn based upon entrance test-providing applicable-, and on merit based on academic credentials.

6. Counselling and Seat Allocation: The shortlisted candidates attend the counselling session, followed by seat allocation as per the merit and reservation policies.

7. Candidates offering admission would pay the set fees to confirm their admission status.

8. Before the admission list is finalized by the college, all documents of the selected candidates shall be verified.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The B.Ed program is entitled to an approved admission limit of 200 seats. The admission procedure is in accordance with the guidelines provided by WBUTTEPA and NCTE. The candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria set by WBUTTEPA and NCTE. No age restriction is there for admission in B.Ed.

M.Ed (Master of Education): The M.Ed program has fifty seats with a similar admission process as for B.Ed. All the admission regulations are set out by WBUTTEPA and NCTE. No age bar for admission to M.Ed, just like B.Ed. Candidates who are having B.Ed. or its equivalent degree as per NCTE norms are considered eligible.

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): The D.El.Ed program has an approved admission limit of 100 seats. The admission procedure takes place under the regulations set by WBUTTEPA, WBBPE, and NCTE. The age limit for admission to this course is 35 years, in contrast to that for B.Ed and M.Ed. The eligibility criteria and reservation policies are in accordance with the guidelines from these regulatory authorities.
