Thanapandiyan Polytechnic College is affiliated college, which was started in the year 1985 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Located in a campus area of 13 acres the college has a strength of 220 students and a faculty of 20 teachers. Thanapandiyan Polytechnic College acquired several facilities. It possesses more than 21000 volumes and about 1800 titles to support all engineering disciplines. It also provides borrowing rights to 18 journals, audio visual aids and internet services. Specific to skills practice, the institute boasts of well-equipped laboratory sections for physics, chemistry as well as specialised engineering disciplines.

The total approved intake capacity for all the courses is 180 seats per year, and the maximum number of seats are sanctioned to Mechanical Engineering i.e 60.

Diploma in Civil Engineering: The strength of this course is approved at 30 seats by the college. Students who have a strong mathematics and physical science background in their 10th standard are preferred.

Diploma in Computer Engineering: This course has a lower intake of 15 seats. Admission is offered based on the candidate's performance in the 10th standard, with preference being given to those who have an interest in computer science.

Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering: It has 15 seats in this course, where students are taken based on marks secured by them at the 10th standard and any other parameters decided by the college or state technical education board.
