Course Overview

The Biostatistics for Big Data Applications training starts with statistical concepts and terminology, and a brief introduction to the R statistical software package, creating a foundation for learners to build on. Later on, the fundamental components of the bio statistical methodologies used in both omics and population health research are discussed.

Examples will be discussed after each topic in the Biostatistics for Big Data Applications certification syllabus. There will also be self-assessment opportunities for learners to gauge their understanding. Moreover, to improve their R programming skills, participants can undertake practice exercises and use real datasets that will be provided to them.

The Biostatistics for Big Data Applications programme is developed by the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). The video lectures are delivered in English, and their transcripts are also available only in English. To complete the programme comfortably within eight weeks, learners should spend around 2-3 every week, studying.
