Tinsukia College, and affiliated with Dibrugarh University has a merit admission process for all its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The college boasts an extensive array of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, sciences, and commerce fields.  Usually, it is after the announcement of the 10+2 results that admissions commence at Tinsukia College. While specific dates may differ each year, admissions are generally announced in the months of May-June for the academic year that starts in August-September. 

To be specific, the basic eligibility criterion for the undergraduate admission is that the candidate must have completed 10+2 from any recognized board. The college considers the marks obtained in the qualifying examination for admission to most courses, requiring a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying examination, although this varies for different programs. Tinsukia College is a very inclusive college; 99% of students are from within Assam and the other 1% are from outside the state, which forms one of the largest learning bases for diversity.

Admission Process Degree Wise

B.Com (Hons): With an intake of 300, Tinsukia College offers B.Com (Hons). The admission is purely on merit basis dependent on the marks secured in 10+2 examination, especially in the relevant subjects.

B.Sc Programs: The college offers B.Sc (Hons) in different disciplines such as Zoology, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Botany, amongst others. Each of these has an intake of 70 seats. Admission is on merit, taking into consideration the marks obtained in the science subjects of the 10+2 examination.

BA Programs: Tinsukia College offers BA (Hons) in Assamese, English, Economics, Political Science, History, Philosophy, and Geography. Most of these courses include a total intake of 70 seats each, except for BA Geography (Hons) which has 50 seats. Admission is on a merit basis and considers marks in relevant subjects from the 10+2 exam.

BCA and BBA (Self Finance): BCA. The college offers self-financed BCA and BBA programs; the intake for BCA is 40, while it is 20 for BBA. Admission is purely on merit basis for both programs.

M.Com: M.Com is offered by Tinsukia College for postgraduate students with 60 sanctioned seats. The admission process into M.Com is judged by the B.Com marks obtained.

M.Sc Programs: The college offers M.Sc in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Chemistry, with each program having an intake capacity of 25 seats. Admission is based on performance in the Bachelor's degree relevant to each program.
