TJ Institute of Technology (TJIT)was established in the year 2001 as a self-financing institution located at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Located in a large complex of 10.08acres, TJIT provides a wide variety of engineering and management courses. The institute is recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and it is an affiliated college. Having a faculty team of 153, TJIT has set a bench mark in providing education to the students across fifteen courses offered under four degree programmes. It is seen that the institute maintains a high level of academic recognition by having well equipped infrastructures and by focusing on the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cyber Security among others.
On this regard TJ Institute of Technology has several facilities that can facilitate the learning process and development of the students. It includes a well equipped laboratory for Operating Systems, Network laboratory, VLSI/DSP laboratory, and CAD/CAM laboratory is available in the campus. The central library contains 27959 books and 5800 titles including online journals and NPTEL video lectures. The schools are supported by several high-performance computers over three hundred, and wireless internet connection throughout the academic complex. The institute addresses the physical health with adequate sports facility such playground for outdoor games, indoor stadium to conduct games such as basketball, badminton and many more. The hostels have separate sections for boys and girls, which features comfortable furniture and bedding, essential modern amenities and, important rule and regulation is strictly adhered to.
This institute is endowed with a composite curriculum of academic programmes to meet requirements of different engineering disciplines and management sciences. Currently, TJIT has 15 full time programmes in its offering portfolio, divided into undergraduate and postgraduate qualification. The undergraduate programmes include the conventional engineering disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Computer Science disciplines and the emerging streams or AI & Data Science. The post graduate course offerings at TJIT include MBA and MCA programmes as well as ME specialised programmes in Applied Electronics, Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering Design and Power Systems Engineering. The total approved intake across all courses currently is 864 seats which from the institute’s perspective ensures that a large number of students with the desire and ability to be professionals are trained each year.

TJ Institute of Technology follows a strict admission process that is all rounded and bases its selection on merits. For undergraduate programmes in Engineering, the students are admitted based on TNEA counselling, in which the performance of the students are evaluated. MBA as well as MCA courses in various universities invite scores from the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). The institute also recognises Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission scores for some the postgraduate engineering programmes also. TJ Institute of Technology (TJIT) is endowed with an architecture of self-financing with various engineering and management programmes. The institute has the recognition of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and a merit-based admission policy is followed for undergraduate and postgraduate candidates. TJIT aims to have a rigorous admission system, which finds merit students from among an ocean of applicants coming from the state or outside.
The admission cycle at TJ Institute of Technology roughly follows the Tamil Nadu state academic calendar with almost all programmes beginning in August. For undergraduate engineering programmes, it participates in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling process, whereby a centralised admission scheme evaluates students based on their performance in qualifying examinations and seats them accordingly.
For MBA and MCA programmes, the entrance scores obtained in Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) are relied upon for postgraduate admissions. This is an entrance test at the state level for TJ Institute of Technology admission into management and computer application courses.
