Younus College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) started in the year 2002 is an affiliated college situated inKollam, Kerala state. YCET is a large university with a 11 acres campus and offers engineering programmes at the bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The college is affiliated with teh National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) while at the national level, recognition is with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). YCET is set up with a total student enrolment of 766 and faculty strength is 87 which aid for technically promoting atmosphere. The college delivers nine courses in two levels of study, engineering and technology degrees.
YCET has wide ranging assets and infrastructure that would cater the needs of the students in their academic and personal developments. The college library has a stock of 25000 books and 35000 titles are available with national and international journals and e-journals. To facilitate the students with practical knowledge, the YCET has state-of-art laboratories for every department. The facility called Central Computing Facility (CCF) students provide the opportunity to use high-performance computing that allows improving practical skills of students. The campus is provided with spacious, neat and comfortable hostels for boys and girls respectively. A multi cuisine cafeteria takes care of the varied palate and there are sports complex along with a gymnasium. The admission policy of YCET to its courses as outlined and implemented follows the structure set by the Government of Kerala. In B.Tech programmes 50% of the seats are kept for KEAM non-qualified B.Tech entrance test conducted by Government of Kerala for all the private engineering institutions. The remaining 50 percent of the total admission is carried under Management quota. The quotas applied and other conditions of eligibility are as per the Government of Kerala notifications. In the case of M.Tech courses, the procedure followed is the same where the government portion and the management portion are being distributed among the students.
