The Advanced Materials and Processes online course is an 8 weeks program offered by Swayam, an initiative by the government of India’s Ministry of education. The course covers the classification and basic foundation of functional and structural materials; high-temperature materials: processing, structure, oxidation resistance, and mechanical behaviour of stainless steels, co and ni-based aluminides superalloys and silicides, ceramic composites and carbon-carbon.

The Advanced Materials and Processes training teaches about shape-memory alloys: mechanisms of one and two-way shape memory effect, pseudoelasticity and thermoelasticity, reverse transformation, applications, and examples; bulk metallic glass: stability and criteria for glass formation, mechanical behaviour and examples; nano-materials: size effect on functional and structural properties, classification, properties and processing of nanocrystalline materials, multilayered and thin films coatings, multiwalled and single-walled carbon nanotubes.

The Advanced Materials and Processes syllabus covers hard and soft magnetic materials for storage devices: processing and design; piezoelectric materials: properties and processing; advanced material’s advanced processes: rapid solidification, single crystal growth, chemical and physical vapor deposition of thin films, inert gas condensation, etc.
