Does floating in UPSEE Counseling lets me edit, shuffle/rearrange my preferences? And what happens to the floating fee we pay?

ananthita 28th Oct, 2020

Hello,

For the UPSEE Counselling after you have filled choices of your colleges and courses according to your preferences , you will be allotted seats on the basis of the choices that you have filled ,your rank and the availability of seats.

After you have been allotted a seat you will be provided with three options to choose from and these are:

Freeze- You can select this option if you are satisfied with the the seat that you have been allotted and would like to go forward with it. This means that you are confirming the seat that has been allotted to you.

Withdrawal-Suppose you are not satisfied with seat that has been allotted to you and also you are not interested in the further rounds of allotment , you can choose this option. This means that you are opting out altogether from the counselling process.

Float-This option can be selected if you want to confirm the seat presently allotted to you and at the same time you want to be considered for upgradation in the next round of allotment on the basis of your already filled choices .If there are any further chances of upgradation you will be provide with that otherwise you will stay with the  same seat that has been allotted to you initially.

The upgradation of seats totally depends on the choices you had filled initially. You can login to the portal and change the choices according to your preferences if you haven't already locked them. So before locking the options be sure of your preferences.

The fee that you pay is non refundable.

Hope this helps you.

if i will choose float option in upsee frst round counselling then if i get another college in second round do i pay 20 thousand again in second round?

myidshivanisrivastava 28th Oct, 2020

Hello Anchal,

No, you don't have to pay the counselling fees of Rs 20000 again for the second round if you choose Float option in the 1st round.

If you are not satisfied with the college/branch allotted to you in the 1st round, and you aspire for a better seat, then you choose Float option. Choosing Float Option in 1st round can get you better colleges during the subsequent rounds. However, in this case, you lose the seat which was allotted to you previously. Therefore, fill the choices very carefully.

After you Freeze a college at any stage during counselling, the remaining amount from 20000 is refunded, after deduction at each round.

Hope this information was useful to you. Feel free to ask more questions.

All the best!!

sir i got 29000 general rank in upsee and 9000 obc rank in that exam .i want computer science or information technology in galgotiya can i get it?

tinni.chats 28th Oct, 2020
Hello Aspirant, hope you are doing good.

So, according to your question , with your category rank , you don't have much chances of getting a seat in GCET for computer science engineering because the closing cutoff rank for CSE is almost 6.4k and your rank is pretty much higher than that so you don't have much chances in CSE but you definitely can get a seat in IT because the closing rank in IT is almost 12k for OBC ,so you have a pretty safe rank for that matter. You can even get other branches like ECE,EEE,MECH,EE,Instrumentation engineering etc.

Please tell In Upsee . What if opening rank of a college is higher than my rank ..Then will i get that college or not.?? For ex . Opening rank of college is 32000 to 35000(Closing rank) But my rank is 30000. then Will i not get that college ..?? Please tell

ARYAN SAGAR 28th Oct, 2020
Dear student,

If your rank lie between a particular range of opening and closing rank cutoff, then definitely you can get a seat in that particular college.

Now, as you have given example that for a certain college the opening and closing rank is - 32000 to 35000.
That means, for that college, the candinate whose rank is 32000 took admission in it and, no other candinate whose rank is below 32000 took the admission.

Now if you want to take admission in that particular college ( as your rank is lower than 32000 ), then you have to use float option. And you can get that particular college only if that college is in your higher preference order than the your allotted college, then only float option will help you to get that college.
