You can definitely pursue space scientist by being an aeronautical engineer. However, after your B.Tech you would have to do a masters or further PHD in this field of science to get a better understanding and chance of placements. Also, rather than pursuing aeronautical, I insist that you pursue Aerospace engineering in the top institutes of India to have high chances of better placements.

The ICRB Exam 2021 selection procedure is divided into two stages: Written Test and Interview. Those who secure a minimum of 50% marks separately in both objective and descriptive type questions in the written test with a minimum of 40% in each part will be considered for short-listing in the ratio of 1:8 for interview. Those who secure a minimum of 50% marks each in written test and interview with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks will be considered for empanelment in the order of merit, subject to the number of vacancies notified.

It seems difficult to get Aeronautical Engineering in MIT with your rank, because as by checking previous year cut off and ranks your rank should be below 2000 in order to get BE AE seat.

Hi, the eligibility criteria for getting into engineering is that you need to have 45% in PCM aggregate. So, as long as you manage to get it done there is nothing to worry about. For getting into aeronautical engineering you will have to give entrance exams as per your choice. If you want a college in your state you can choose state level exam or JEE Mains. Hope this helps.
