Long bones are generally found in the appendicular skeleton and also in lower limbs.The examples of long bones in our body are

the tibia, fibula, femur, metatarsals,phalanges, humerus, radius, ulna, metacarpals, and phalanges.

Their function is to support the weight of body and facilitate movements.

Describe the muscles of anterior abdominal wall

The anterior abdominal wall consists of : Rectus Abdominis Muscles and Pyramidalis Muscles.
The muscles of anterior abdominal wall is located near midline between the costal margin superiorly and the pubis inferiorly.
The muscles of the anterior abdominal wall perform following functions:
  • protect the contents of the abdominal cavity,
  • to move the trunk and assist in other bodily functions.
  • Rectus Abdominis Muscles:
It is a pair of muscle present on either side of theLinea alba .
The lateral border of Rectus Abdominis forms the Linea semilunaris .
Origin - Pubic symphysis  and Pubic crest
Functions-
  1. Flexes the trunk
  2. Maintains abdominal wall tone and helps increase intra-abdominal pressure e.g ., forced expiration, coughing etc.

  • Pyramidalis Muscles:
It is a small triangular muscle and is absent in 1025% of the population.
  • Origin - Pubic symphysis  and Pubic crest
  • Function-
  1. Tenses Linea alba

Hi,

The Deltoid muscle is the main muscle of the shoulder. It consists of three muscle heads: the anterior deltoid, lateral deltoid, and posterior deltoid. All assist with arm elevation during a process called glenohumeral elevation and play a large role in the movement and overall stability of the shoulder joint and upper arm. The entire deltoid muscle spans from the spine of the scapula to the lateral portion of the clavicle.

Motor function which the deltoid is responsible for includes shoulder abduction, shoulder flexion, and shoulder extension (which allows the shoulder to stay at its resting position while also giving the option of backward movement).
