Mechatronics is multidisciplinary between mechanical, electronics and computer engineering.
Mechatronics is the closest to robotics with the slight and main difference in mechatronics systems inputs are provided whereas in robotics systems it acquires the inputs by their own.
Robotics can be considered as part of Mechatronics as it involves these mechanical, electronics and computer engineering fields.

Hello Hemanth!
As far as I know, there is no branch such as Automation and robotics in KLE (engineering). However, if you mean mechanical or electrical then, you don't have a chance. However, fill the preferences as you want them to be, because the counselling process can be at times very unpredictable.
Hello Aspirant,
The salary package depends on your skill and also matters, the college you passed out the programme, It also varies to the Organization however as a Fresher, You can expect around 15 to 20,000 per month, It can varies.
Good Luck!
Hai Santhosh,
Only a few colleges offer the courses of automation and robotics in India. In Indian perspective its an upcoming course and only a few IITs, NITs, Banaras Hindu University, University of Hyderabad, SRM provide this course and that too as professional degree in Engineering. Most of the colleges offer M.Tech.
You may reconsider your colleges in Tamilnadu. You may do other courses like B.Tech in electronics/mechanical engineering and follow with M.Tech in robotics.
