EWS female pursuing bcom got 70% in 12 and 80% in 10th how much should i target in CAT to get into iim banglore and other iims with zero wrk experience

Yash 1st Nov, 2024

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most important components to get admission in IIM Bangalore or any other IIMs. In order to get admission in IIMs, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. There is no specific percentile stated by the IIMs which will give you a 100% WATPI shortlist. Even scoring a high percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get an interview call as it depends upon various factors.

IIM Bangalore or any other IIM give consideration to a number of factors while giving a WATPI call. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. Your first priority should be to clear both the overall percentile of 75 and sectional percentile of 70 in all three sections in case of IIM Bangalore and the overall and sectional percentile as stated by the different IIMs for EWS category candidates. If you have no work experience, it will not be a disadvantage as a number of candidates who get admission in the IIMs are freshers with no work experience. You will not get the marks allotted for work experience.

However, even if you score 95 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm WATPI call. Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission.

The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, Graduation, academic, and gender diversity will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI process along with the CAT score and your performance in the WATPI round will play a major role during your final selection.

Im a commerce student as I want start a perfum and aroma related business with my own research and I searched for course and it said I must have studied chemistry.. so can I do bba/bcom with chemistry course in college?

ishratsadaf8 8th Feb, 2024

Dear Aspirant!

Typically, BBA and B.Com courses don't require a background in chemistry. However, if your interest lies in perfumery and aroma, you might want to consider additional courses or workshops in fragrance chemistry or related fields to complement your business studies. This way, you can gain specific knowledge relevant to your entrepreneurial venture while pursuing a business-focused degree like BBA or B.Com.
