To become a physics professor a research degree along with a PhD is a must. You should pass your 10+2 with either PCB or PCM with a minimum first class. Then you must complete a three year bachelor degree, in your case BSc Physics will be the degree to be completed with a minimum first class.

Then the student can apply for a masters which will help them prepare better for the PhD degree they are about to take and get the exposure needed, gives the students more in-depth knowledge of physics as compared to a bachelors degree.

Next, write GATE exam and try to achieve a high rank , if your focus is studying at IIT institutions. If you do not want to study at IIT, and want to consider other institutions then a UGC-NET score/ CSIR score is essential.
