my rank is 24129 in wbjee .... i want civil engineering government college ..?

Sohamsengupta8 27th Aug, 2022
Hello student,
Sorry to say you but actually this is quite high ranking and with this rank if you don't belong to any special categories like SC ST or PWD then it will be hard for you to get a very good government college like Jadavpur University. Obviously you can get in top private colleges with management quota but still through the counselling process with this rank you can get some few private colleges if you belongs to general category. The cut off trend changes each and every year. You have not mention that from which category belongs to its quite difficult for us to tell about that accurately.
Possible civil engineering colleges you can get,
  • Government engineering College Purulia
  • Bengali institute of technology and management
  • Birbhum institute of technology and engineering
  • Budge budge institute of technology
  • Calcutta institute of engineering and management
  • Camellia institute of technology and management
  • Dr BC Roy institute of technology
  • Dream institute of technology
  • Dum cal institute of technology
  • Seacom skill university etc

which can I prefer :: civil engineering in top college vs electrical and electronic engineering in 2nd level college

anushkasrivastava073 18th Aug, 2022

Dear Student,

This is a question that can have many answers. Many will prefer civil over EE and many others can prefer the opposite. It is totally your choice. If you wish to go for higher studies or become a professor in future then go for civil. If you wish to go for placements and work at MNCs then prefer EE. The main thing is "Where your interest lies?". Keep these points in your mind while deciding.

Please try to elaborate your question form next time. What is 2nd level college? I am interpreting 2nd level means tier 2 colleges and by top colleges, you mean NITs and IIITs. If you prefer to go for the brand name, choose top colleges. Again, this question can have many answers and depends on the choice of individuals.

In my opinion, you should go for civil in top colleges and if you develop an interest in coding, you can always apply off campus. However, if you don't have any interest in coding, you can go for civil engg jobs.

civil engineering or electronic and electrical engineering is best ?????

Shreya Mukherjee 17th Aug, 2022

Hello aspirant,

Here you have raised a comparative information about the 3 most wanted branches in engineering.

First of all , all of the 3 departments have good career prospects.

Types of job in electronic/electrical include:

Systems engineer
Radio frequency engineer
Electrical engineer
Controls engineer
Software engineer

Types of job in civil include:

Civil engineer
Project engineer
Structural engineer
Transportation engineer
Geotechnical engineer
Water resources engineer
Construction engineer

Median pay of an electrical engineer is slightly higher than that of civil engineer. Civil engineering is a bit easier than electrical/electronics.

Again electronics are more popular nowadays to electronic engineering is gaining more popularity as compared to electrical.

Go through the syllabus for all the 3 courses, check the placements scenarios and then select whichever is the best for you.

All the best!

The admission into Lateral Entry into engineering courses, when it comes to B.Tech Civil Engineering course, there are different entrance exams which you must qualify in order to take admission like

  • AP ECET

  • TS ECET
  • Haryana LEET etc.

Now if you consider the general eligibility of the courses, you will find that, the candidate must have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as subjects in 10+2 with 50% marks for general category and a diploma candidate of Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy courses can also apply to get the lateral entry into third semester of B.Tech course in different colleges.
