Direct second year lateral entry to b tech civil engineering

Samriddha Pal 14th Jul, 2025

Hello,

Indeed, you are eligible to apply for direct second-year (lateral entry) admission to B.Tech Civil Engineering provided you satisfy the requirements. Generally, applicants should possess a 3-year diploma in Civil or a similar engineering field from an AICTE-recognized institution, achieving a minimum of 45–60% overall marks (45% for candidates from reserved categories).

Admission occurs via state-level lateral entry entrance examinations, including AP ECET (Andhra Pradesh), TS ECET (Telangana), JELET (West Bengal), or LEET at some universities. After achieving a qualifying rank, seats are distributed via counselling conducted by the appropriate state authority, usually including government, aided, and private colleges that reserve up to 10–20% of seats for lateral entry in each branch.

Hope this helps. All the best!

Kya 204 no pr civil seat mil jayega basti me or kitne round me

Prachi Kumari 11th Jul, 2025

Hello,

If your rank is 204 (and you are talking about JEECUP counselling ), then you have a good chance of getting a Civil Engineering seat in Basti Government Polytechnic.

However, the exact allotment depends on factors like your category, seat availability, and round-wise cut-off.

Usually, if seats are available, you may get it in the 1st or 2nd round. If not, there are chances in the 3rd round too.

Make sure to lock your choices properly and keep Basti at a higher priority.

Hope it helps !

gmrit and aditya university in civil engineering which college is best

sadafreen356 4th Jul, 2025

For civil engineering, GMR Institute of Technology (GMRIT) is generally considered the better option over Aditya University. GMRIT has a stronger reputation, better infrastructure, and a more established track record in placements and industry connections. While Aditya University may have newer facilities, GMRIT's long-standing presence and industry links may offer more practical experience and better placement opportunities.

Lets compare

Reputation and Established Presence:

GMRIT has a longer history and a more established reputation in the field of civil engineering.

Infrastructure:

GMRIT is known for its robust infrastructure, including well-equipped labs, libraries, and sports facilities.

Placements:

GMRIT has a strong placement record, with a significant percentage of students getting placed in reputable companies.

Industry Connections:

GMRIT has strong connections with the industry, which can be beneficial for internships and job placements.

Campus Life:

Both colleges offer a vibrant campus life with various extracurricular activities, but GMRIT is known for its holistic approach to development.

Modern Facilities:

Aditya University may offer more modern facilities and a more contemporary approach to education.

In conclusion, while both colleges are viable options, GMRIT appears to be the stronger choice for civil engineering, particularly if you prioritize established reputation, infrastructure, and placement opportunities.

I got a rank of 1,178 in TS PGCET in civil engineering category OBC D.I want to do specialization in geotechnical or transportation or structural engineering. Can I get a seat in Jntu or osmania or kakatiya or jntu sultanpur or aided colleges?

Abhilasha Agrawal 2nd Aug, 2025

With a TS PGECET rank of 1,178 in Civil Engineering (OBC-D category), your chances of getting a seat in JNTU Hyderabad or Osmania University (OU) for core specializations like Geotechnical, Structural, or Transportation Engineering are difficult, as these branches are in high demand and generally close within the top 500–700 ranks.

However, you have better chances in:

1. JNTU Sultanpur

2. Aided/private colleges affiliated to JNTU/OU

3. You may get a seat in later rounds (spot/mop-up) if some seats remain vacant.
