Commercial Pilot
Hello Ranjithkumar,
Commercial pilots in India have lucrative employment packages.
At the entry level job, the salary for a domestic airlines pilot is somewhere around ₹1.5lakhs/month
For a senior pilot, the salary is around ₹5lakhs/month for domestic airlines
The figures are certainly higher for senior international commercial pilots and may touch ₹10lakhs/month
These are only estimated figures reported by plimits anonymously and the exact salary varies from post to post and airline to airline
• In addition to the salary, a commercial pilot also enjoys various benefits like free or concessioned ticket fares, medical and housing benefits.
So yes becoming a commercial pilot may require huge investments in terms of time and money initially but the returns are wholesome
Good Luck, may your career touch the skies! :D
Hello Aspirant
A commercial pilot is an individual who acts as the primary pilot of the aircraft. A commercial pilot needs to hold a commercial pilot license (otherwise he/she can not be considered as a commercial pilot). If a commercial pilot wants to fly for an airline, he/she needs to have an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) certification. With the help of this certification, a commercial pilot can earn money by flying established airlines.
To be a commercial pilot, you do not need perfect eyesight. There are certain eyesight requirements/ standards that need to be met for the same. These standards differ from country to country and are regulated by the respected authorities.
You need to have correctable eyesight to 6/6. In most cases, those individuals have been considered whose one eye has proper eyesight whereas the other eye has correctable eyesight. Eyesight – 6/9 is considered fine.
You can be what you always wanted. There are many rules and standards that are evolving. There are also fields within flying that you can opt for.
All the best!
Hi Darshan,
Commercial pilot is a good career option in terms of the salary and the added incentives. Plus being an engineer your educational background also suits the eligibility criteria that asks for qualification in physics and maths. When talking about the salary, the base salary can begin from Rs. 1.5 lacs for junior pilots or freshers on the domestic routes whereas international routes will pay more. Similarly, for senior pilots, the average package starts from Rs. 5 lacs per month (domestic routes) and higher (international routes). Dear Student,
Greetings.
First, research your flight training options and then You should pick the best match for your aviation goals. Taking an introductory training flight lesson will help you a lot. Pilots must meet basic medical requirements to fly. If you want to fly professionally, you must meet higher medical standards than recreational pilots and should apply for a first class medical certificate through an Aeromedical Examiner (AME). Apply for a student pilot certificate through the FAA's Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) website (your flight instructor can help with this). Start taking flight training lessons and begin working towards obtaining the aeronautical knowledge and pilot training experience requirements needed to become a private pilot. During your private pilot flight training, you will need to take and pass the computer-based FAA private pilot knowledge test. To be eligible for the test, you must receive an endorsement from your flight instructor. The final step in earning your FAA private pilot certificate is to take a practical exam with a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). This exam consists of both an oral and a flight portion, and once completed you will be a private pilot.
I hope this helps!
