Question : Study the given data and answer the question that follows.
The data shows the number of candidates (in thousands) appearing for Civil Service (CS) and Engineering Service (ES) Examinations in the years 2020, 2021, 2022 in the USA.

Year Civil Service Engineering Service
Total No. of Candidates Appeared Graduates out of the total candidates appeared (in %) Total No. of Candidates Appeared Graduates out of the total candidates appeared (in %)
2020 75 60 89 57
2021 110 64 118 65
2022 120 80 135 78

What is the total number of graduates who appeared for both CS and ES together in the year 2022?

Option 1: 2,01,000

Option 2: 2,01,100

Option 3: 2,01,300

Option 4: 2,01,200

Team Careers360 25th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 2,01,300

Solution : The total number of graduates who appeared for both Civil Service (CS) and Engineering Service (ES) together in the year 2022 can be calculated as follows:
For CS:
The total number of candidates appeared = 1,20,000 (since the data is in thousands)
Percentage of graduates out of the total candidates appeared = 80%
So, the number of graduates who appeared for CS = 120,000 × 80% = 96,000
For ES:
The total number of candidates who appeared = 1,35,000
Percentage of graduates out of the total candidates appeared = 78%
So, the number of graduates who appeared for ES = 135,000 × 78% = 105,300
Therefore, the total number of graduates who appeared for both CS and ES together in the year 2022 = 96,000 + 1,05,300 = 2,01,300
Hence, the correct answer is 2,01,300.

Question : Directions: In a certain code language, ZEPHYR is coded as IIYLHV and SCHIZY is coded as BGQMIC. What is the code for ZINCKY in the given code language?

Option 1: IMNGTC

Option 2: IMWGSC

Option 3: IMWGTC

Option 4: IMWFTC

Team Careers360 18th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: IMWGTC

Solution : Given:
ZEPHYR is coded as IIYLHV and SCHIZY is coded as BGQMIC.

Add 9 to the positional value of the odd place letter and add 4 to the positional value of the even place letter to obtain the required code –
Z + 9 = I; E + 4 = I; P + 9 = Y; H + 4 = L; Y + 9 = H; R + 4 = V
Thus, ZEPHYR is coded as IIYLHV.
And SCHIZY is coded as BGQMIC.
S + 9 = B; C + 4 = G; H + 9 = Q; I + 4 = M; Z + 9 = I; Y + 4 = C
Thus, SCHIZY is coded as BGQMIC.
Similarly, following the same pattern for ZINCKY –
Z + 9 = I; I + 4 = M; N + 9 = W; C + 4 = G; K + 9 = T; Y + 4 = C

So, ZINCKY is coded as IMWGTC. Hence, the third option is correct.

can a commerce student without having maths but having (eng, a/c, bst, eco, p.ed) can do bsc in cs in du?

Sajal Trivedi 12th Jan, 2024

Hello aspirant,

I regret to inform you that a B.Sc. in computer science at DU requires a math component.

The requirements for eligibility include a minimum of 60% in maths in your 12th grade year and the necessity to search for cutoffs in order to be admitted. Cut-offs are extremely high at DU.

Although you can pursue a BCA, you might need to take a second math exam in addition to your semester 1 exam s.

thank you

hope this information helps you.

can I apply to cs course after 14 years of gap of b.com

Sajal Trivedi 10th Jan, 2024

Hello aspirant,

Yes, since graduation is the minimal need, you are qualified to register for the CS Executive Programme after passing your final year of B.Com. Candidates who have finished their BCom coursework are eligible to enrol directly in the CS Executive programme.

Twice a year, the CS entrance exam is held. The CS Executive exam application has no upper age limit. The age requirement to pursue the Company Secretary/Executive programme is nonexistent. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has requirements that must be met in order to be enrolled in the course. Three programs—the foundation programme, the executive programme, and the professional program—make up the cours e.

Thank you

Hope this information helps you.

Liabilities Rs. Assets Rs.
Provision for Doubtful Debts 4,000 Cash 10,000
Workmen Compensation Reserve 5,600 Sundry Debtors 80,000
Outstanding Expenses 3,000 Stock 20,000
Creditors 30,000 Fixed Assets 38,600
Capitals   Profit & Loss A/c 4,000
A 50,000
B 60,000
  1,52,600   1,52,600

C was taken into partnership as from 1st April, 2018. C brought Rs.40,000 as his capital but he is unable to bring any amount for goodwill. New profit sharing ratio is 3: 2: 1. Following terms were agreed upon :
1. Claim on account of Workmen's Compensation is Rs.3,000.
2. To write off Bad Debts amounting to Rs.6,000.
3. Creditors are to be paid Rs.2,000 more.
4. Rs.2,000 be provided for an unforeseen liability.
5. Outstanding expenses be brought down to Rs. 1,200.
6. Goodwill is valued at $1 \frac{1}{2}$ year's purchase of the average profits of last three years. Profits of 3 years amounted to Rs.8,000; Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 18,000 .
Question:
Which account will be debited and crediting in Respect of treatment of goodwill.

Option 1: premium for goodwill debiting Rs 3,000 and Crediting B's capital account by Rs 3,000

Option 2: debiting C's current account Rs 3,000 and crediting B's capital account with Rs 3,000

Option 3: debiting Cs current account Rs 3,000 and crediting B and A Rs 1,500 each

Option 4: None of the above

Team Careers360 12th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: debiting C's current account Rs 3,000 and crediting B's capital account with Rs 3,000

Solution : Answer = debiting C's current account Rs 3,000 and crediting B's capital account with Rs 3,000

                                         Partner's Capital Account

  A B C   A B C
To Profit and loss A/c  2000 2000 - By Bal. b/d 50000 60000 -
To Revaluation(loss) 2100 2100 - By W.C. Reserve 1300 1300

-

To Bal. c/d 47200 60200 40000 By Cash - - 40000
        By C's Current A/c - 3000 -

  51300 64300 40000   51300 64300 40000

Goodwill = $\frac{8000 + 10,000 +18000}{3}\times 1.5$

= $\frac{36000}{3} = 12000\times 1.5 = 18000$

C's share = 18000 x 1/6 = Rs 3000

S.Ratio = O.R. -  N.R.

A = 1/2 - 3/6 = 3-3/6 = 0

B= 1/2-2/6 = 3-2/6 = 1/6

Hence, the correct option is 2.
