What about cut off and fees?? Which is better among bds and BAMS? ?

yadvi Student Expert 9th Jun, 2019

Dear candidate,

Since you didn't mention your category I'm assuming it to be general.

For BAMS you need to score 420+ and for BDS 450+  to secure the seat in good Government colleges.

If you are interested in Ayurvedic medicine you should choose BAMS and if you interested in dentistry you can go for BDS. See choosing a course is totally depends on your interest. Both the fields are totally different.

The career opportunity after the completion of BAMS is not only in India but also in foreign countries. Many organizations are working in the manufacturing and research field in abroad are requiring the professional in this field. The candidate having the BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) degree is eligible to be called as a doctor and eligible to do the private practice. ob opportunities also exists in government sector. One can get job in government ayurveda hospital as  ayurvedic pharmacist. After the completion of this course, candidates also have opportunity to open their own retail shop of Ayurveda medicines.

Teaching field is also open for BAMS graduates. They can find employment in private and government ayurveda Institutes.

The salary in the medical field is the benchmark for other job profiles in different field. Some universities provide the stipend around 40 thousand to 50 thousand per month to the post-graduate doctors in Ayurvedic field. In the job an Ayurvedic professional may get the salary from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50000 according the role and nature of his/her job profile.

After the completion of the BDS course, the dental graduates are entitled to use the term Doctor before his or her name as the prefix “Dr.”.

There are plenty of good jobs & higher study opportunities available after getting the degree in dentistry as a doctor. eaching career is also open for BDS graduates. Those interested in teaching can acquire teaching jobs in any of the top Dental Colleges. They are eligible to hold positions as professors or even HOD and even get promoted to Dean.

The initial salary of a dentist may be the Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month. After getting the experience and good hands on in this field, the candidate may get the handsome salary as 4 to 6 lakh per annum.

Both options are good & has value in its fields. It all depends on area of your interest.

Hope the answer is helpful.

Good luck.

Can u please tell me what are the chances of getting a prosthodontics seat in karntaka with a rank of 5751

AMIT DAS 13th Mar, 2019

Hello Deepa,

Thanks for writing to us. We will be pleased to answer you. First of all heartiest congratulations on your excellent performance in NEET-MDS. You secured 5751st rank. Lets have a look at which colleges can you get by this rank:

Considering your Rank and as per your choice(as you have stated in the question)you have predicted by keeping in mind the previous cutoffs and this year's probable cutoff. We have expected you to join the following college.

  • GOVERNMENT DENTAL COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE

This is one of the prime MDS colleges of Karnataka. According to their cutoff, you can surely get a chance in this college. It earned a lot of respect in the medical field for its service to society. It imparted best dental education to its students and provided sufficient oral health care to the population in and around Karnataka. It accomplishes new heights in performance by providing application-oriented, career-focused educational programs and services. For its high reputation WHO established a service clinic on the campus. Students say the management runs the college very well.

  • Fee Structure- Total 73400 INR
  • Duration- 3 years
  • Scholarship- No such scholarship is available. But exemption of fees is there for economically backward students.
  • Placement- As such no placement is needed for the students who eventually are Doctors.
  • Atmosphre- Quite a good ambiance.
  • Infrastructure- Good(maintained by Govt.)
  • Faculty- Some of them is said to be excellent. But some of them are also average.
  • Hostel- This college doesn't own its own hostel. You have to stay outside in any PG.

So now you have got a clear picture in your mind about the college where you can get in and an overall review of the college has been summarised up. Hope it helps you to know the college even better before joining college.

I can assure you that this would be a good college for your academics as one of my close relatives is from there. You can also join any private dental college of your choice also.

For predicting your college you can also take help of your predictor tool. Here is the link Https://medicine.careers360.com/neet-mds-college-predictor
