I am currently a student of Power Engineering Dept. of Jadavpur University. The course curriculum of the dept. is vast and has topics related to Electrical and Mechanical Engg. Working of Electrical Machines , Fluid Mechanics, working of shafts, turbines, cams,boilers,utulisation , transmission of electricity from power plants, power economics , power electronics, control systems are taught in detail, so it’s very interesting and so the dept offers a lot of research scope in India and abroad as well .Research scope in nuclear Engg is also there by studying in Power Engg.

         This year placement season saw recruiters like PWC, MU Sigma, IPCL,IPSOS,Young Optics, Hexagon, Linde , Cairn,etc. This year we have a DAAD wise scholar from our department as well. There are alumni from this dept currently working in Schneider Electric as well. So this diverse field offers a lot of scope and options.

Uptill   I know you might get a stipend of INR 12k nearly talking about the fees I don't have proper knowledge it may be about 20k yearly for more accurate knowledge you can visit the official website..

Gate Electrical Engineering score of last year in power system power electronics programme was 744 for general category and 651for obc category in IIT Hyderabad.

Power is the combination of base number and exponent.In other words we can say that the product of continuous multiplication of same base number is called power whereas exponent represents the number of times the base number is to be multiplied together.

Hey dear Jadavpur university is one of top university in WB and it has great reputation for placements ,staff and exposure. As far as power engineering is concerned it’s good branch but has not sharp scope as Mechanical Engineering or IT or Cse anyday

• So I would suggest you to think again before going for a stream that isnt much into bloom probably not good in India as far as other countries is concerned it’s pretty good specially Israel and Russia

Given your rank, you should get a chance at IIT Kharagpur. But do not take it for granted. Do keep your other options open and ready, in case you dont get IIT Kgp.
