Do I get job surely if I study this event planning?

Pritha Roy Choudhury 26th May, 2018

Dear Sebin,

After completing your studies, the first step should be to intern directly with an established event planner or event planning company. This will be the perfect way to break into the industry and get the experience you need.

Again, when you’re looking at planners to work with, be sure to pick the ones based on your interests and what areas you need to learn for examples either they are wedding planning or they are into fund raising etc.

Once you gain that experience, you are sure to get offers. Aldo, you can start your own enterprise too.

Wishing you good luck !

The very first thing you have to understand that event planning is not an easy field. You have to sit with the clients asking about their requirement and desires. Once you discuss with them, they may not attend your phone or not sit and attend your meetings. Is becoming event planner a good carrier option? What qualification is needed for it and what are the best colleges to persue the degree from

Anonymous 7th Nov, 2017
Becoming an event planner is definitely a great career option. Event planners are needed for weddings, office events, larger family events (big birthday bashes, anniversaries etc) and many more. Whenever I've engaged an event planner or whenever I've seen others engaging them, no one ever worries about their academic qualification. Their skills, communication and experience matter, not qualification. Still, if you want dedicated training, there may be a few institutes. But I am not aware of any, I hope someone else can help you with that part of your question Priya :-).

bhavya banthia 1st Jul, 2018

You can't just describe a college to be best upon the placements (reason I will explain below). Also the course structure of event institute are also something they are experimenting with the students at this moment.

So I will try to be very specific upon the topic about best institute. There are a number of institutions available with different courses in the market. The institute are like:

  1. NAEMD
  2. NIEM
  3. EMDI
  4. AMITY UNIVERSITY, etc

Courses offered by them are like:

  1. Post Graduation or MBA in Event Management - 2 yr course
  2. Graduation or BBA in Event Management - 3 years
  3. Post graduate diploma in event management - 1 year
  4. Diploma in event management - 1 year
  5. Certificate in event management - 6 months
  6. Etc courses I am not sure about.

In all the institute and in all the courses offered by them, they send student for exposure in events.

The reason to do so is to get them ready for jobs and the industry as well.

Now the chances of the student ending up with placement totally depends upon how much have you learnt in those events. And also upon the below mentioned points:

  1. How spontaneous are you.
  2. How are you different from your college mates.
  3. How more are you willing to learn and understand in coming time period.
  4. How good are your skills in communication, negotiation, persuasion etc.

The important job which institute do is giving the exposure so that you come to know about the below mentioned points:

  1. How's the industry overall.
  2. What all companies are there in market.
  3. Wha
