A choice of general management in MBA has flavours of all the different specialisations. You will be exposed to the functions of different verticals such as Finance, Marketing, Operations, HR, IT and more importantly the inter-functional engagement between these verticals. Taking your career forward, in quick succession, you will require knowledge of all these fields and will help you in solving various problems attached with them. The top management of any organisation needs to handle different verticals all by themselves and hence they need to know what is happening in different domains of their company. A skilled CEO would do justice to his post if he has a balanced knowledge of all the aspects of the business. If you consider my advice, go for a specialisation course instead of a general management course. But if you think you can handle all the functions involved in a business, then surely go ahead with general management.
All the very best!!
Hi,
General management duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources. This means that a general manager usually oversees most or all of the firm's marketing and sales functions as well as the day-to-day operations of the business.
Hence, you can say that it is useful for working in MNC if you belong to management background.

General Management and Operations Management courses are entirely different.
General Management deals with the continuous process and works with no clear objective.
Whereas Operation Management deals with intermittent process and works with single or multiple objectives.
The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow is the best school for such courses. There are although other schools like Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay and so on.
