Hello student,

AIIMS is the best medical institute in India. So you should get a very good marks and great rank to have a chance to get admission in in general surgery in AIIMS. The authority has already released the cutoff for AIIMS PG 2020 on June 18. According to the cutoff list for st category you should have maximum 180 in category rank and overall rank by 12974. Pritha Nandy 12th Jul, 2020

Hello there,

DNB general surgery at KMCH Coimbatore is really good.Plus Geneal surgery is a very good subject. KMCH mainly deals with the practicals more than the theory part which is clearly a advantage because for surgeons practice is what is needed.

I was allotted ms. general surgery in aiq round2 in santosh medical college and hospital, ghaziabad..... I want to know how was the surgery branch there nd how much possibility of hands on for surgeries nd patients flow... what kind of surgeries they perform...

Sk Student Expert 16th Jun, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

If the rank of AIMS at 9/10 then Santosh will mark in around 6/10. That should give you an idea but that does not necessarily make it a lessor choice, since Santosh is a private hospital catering to a different segment of society. It is a 600 bed hospital. Generally in private hospitals the number of surgeries is definitely a lot less than government hospitals which cater to the masses and hence your first hand engagement will be lower.

Having said that Santhosh deals with , General Surgery, Neurosurgery, E.N.T. Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics and Cardio-vascular Surgery as related to General Surgery.  So to gain experience nothing like working in a Government Hospital for a few years to hone your skills.

Good Luck

i got 7702 rank in neet pg.can i get m.s.general surgery in Guwahati medical College

Priyanka L Shahane 6th May, 2020

Dear Gourav Reddy

Every year many of students appear for NEET PG exams. So speaking about its cutoff, I have mentioned its previous years cutoff for M.S. Surgeon. You can have an idea about getting admission into :

Year              Round 1                              Round 2

Category    Gen         SC                          Gen      SC

2017           2199-      15711                   3482-     17829-

""               3805 .                          4562      19564

2018          4534-        18871-                 6116        23030

""               6877          20718                   .                  .

2019           19802           -                        -                  -

So looking at the cutoffs it it clear that you require high ranking so as to get a government college.

If you are in open category then its going to be a little hard for you to secure this college. But if this year the cutoffs will appear and seemed to go more farther you are easily entered in . But I can't give you the assurity of getting this medical college if you are from General/Open Category.

But if you are from reserved category then though I can't see that your rank is up till that mark. If ranking gets changed then you can easily enter there.

In short I would like to suggest you that its hard to get Surgeon filed with this ranking and  in this college. But don't give up. You surely can do it better.

All The Very Best.

Hi,

Well if you are considering going for super speciality luke neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery or nephrosurgery and similar super speciality units then you should opt for general surgery cause then only you will be able to go ahead and do mch for all these super specialities. And if not then you can go for any of the three as you see fit and where your interests resides.
