4.bharath university
5.kl college of engineering
6.school of engineering and technology
7.iisc
is there good placement in institute of genetic engineering
Hi Ayushman,
You can do either B.Sc in genetic engineering or B.Tech in Genetic Engineering.
Top colleges which offers various courses in genetic engineering:
- Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
- Indian Institute of Science, (IISc), Bangalore.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
When we talk about placement then there are very less job offers for Genetic engineering.A genetic engineer works with the genetic material or DNA of orgnisms to change or modify some component. Genetic Engineering graduates get the opportunity to work in medical and pharmaceutical Industries, Agriculture Industries, Research.
The average package you will get is 20k-35k per month.
Hope this will help, please feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
Thank You.
what is genetic engineering and its prospects
Hello Kunal
Genetic Engineering is a relatively new branch of engineering that has come up in the last decade or so. Genetic Engineering as the name suggests deals with building or modification of human genome or an organism’s genome to change its biological and chemical properties to meet desired results. In common terms, genetic engineering can be defined as a laboratory science that deals with change or modification of DNA ((Deoxy Ribo Nucleic Acid) of living organisms to advance services in healthcare, medicine and agricultural industries. The subject was initially considered part of biotechnology, but with recent developments and diversification, Genetic Engineering has emerged as its own distinct subject of study with sub-domains and streams to follow.
Scopes in genetic engineering
- Medical industries
- Pharmaceutical industries
- Research and development departments
- Agricultural sector
- Genetic engineering firms
- Chemical companies
I m 12 passed ,I want to do Genetic engineering please guide me about this ...exam ,coarse duration and government colleges..
Greetings !!
BE or B.Tech in Genetic Engineering is a four-year program. Research, agriculture, industrial biotechnology, and medicine are some of the fields that use Genetic engineering techniques. Genetic Engineering studies the method in which traits and characteristics of an organism are transmitted through generations. Genetic Engineering graduates get the opportunity to work in medical and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture industries, research, and development to name a few. In the coming years, Genetic Engineering is having a wide scope. if you are passionate in this subject, definitely go for it. You can excel in this field. Pls note down the list of colleges :-
- SRM University, Chennai
- Bharath University, Chennai
- NIMS University, Jaipur
- Dr DY Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute, Navi Mumbai
- Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phoole University, Jaipur
if any doubts, pls feel free to ask. Wish You Good Luck !
Thank You !!

Best Of Luck For The Future!
why do we need reporter gene,in genetic engineering please tell?
hello
we use reporter gene to check whether our gene of interest is functioning properly or not ,look for example if you are inserting your gene of interest in any organism and you want to check whether the recombinant is expressing it's trait or not you can link a reporter gene with you gene of interest if reporter gene gets expressed obviously your gene of interest would also get expressed, reporter gene can have some unique properties like fluroluminance.
how much is genetic engineering fee in government and private college ?
hello buddy !!!Genetic engineering is a 4 years undergraduate course.the average fee charged in india is ranges from INR 2lac and 10lacs,that depends upon the institution offering course.i can name some of the top institutions SRM charges 2,50,000 per annum,Indian institute of science charges 25,000 per annum,Bharath university charges 2,50,000 and Aryabhatta knowledge university is with 2,00,000.The below link provides you the more details about the college fee structures and courses have a look on it...
Hope this information might have helped you a little bit.All the best for your bright future!!
after selection..do we get college nearby to our home?...like Im from Saharanpur uttar Pradesh..so college nearby for me wpuld be of NCR delhi..so would Ill get that after selection...and can you please tell about the placements of genetic engineering...
If your concern is about any university which has affiliated colleges then after selection you definitely can change your college which is nearby to your home if you have not submitted the fees to any other college.
But if your concern is about your taged college then
You can change college near to your home after selection if you have not submitted the fee to mahatma Gandhi mission jawaharlal Nehru engineering college.
I hope you got it.
Feel free to ask any query in comment section.
Best of luck.
I had completed mbbs and I want to become a genetic engineer. Is it better to study genetic engineering in India or abroad?
Hi,
I would suggest you to look for the top colleges in the world like Harvard for a fruitful genetic engineering course. In India, the scope of quality research and jobs connected to this field is quite less. Moreover, it is always and enriching experience to study abroad be it any course. Exposure to research projects, work experience, more access to better resources/faculty would surely add up as a bonus to your career ambition.
All the best.
Hello! Now Im in BSC 3rd Year. After complete this graduation I would like to have genetic engineering.
The eligibility criteria for Genetic Engineering is:
Candidate must have done 10+2 from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry or Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For any engineering course minimum of 50% marks in board exam of 10+2 is required.
After that, you can apply for entrance examination conducted like Joint Entrance Examination, State level Engineering entrance exams, entrance exams conducted by Private engineering colleges like BITSAT, SRMEEE etc.
Candidates who have done bachelor's degree in science in any discipline can also apply for lateral entry. LEET is Lateral Entrance Test conducted for admission directly in second year of engineering. Minimum of 60% marks in B.Sc is necessary for this exam.
