Geography
Good morning !!
I am hoping that you are absolutely fine and well. As per your mentioned query, geology is the physical structure of the earth whereas geography is the study where we come to know how humans have used and interacted with their environment.
Bsc geology is a 3 year undergraduate course which includes the studies of earth science, minerals, rocks and history of earth landscapes. Some colleges may have entrace exams while some may have merit basis admission.
Whereas, BSc Geography degree offers a well-rounded education that can be used in a variety of professions. It is also a three year full time course.
I hope this will helps you!
Banaras Hindu University offers a three-year, full-time BSc Geography programme through its Department of Geography. Candidates seeking admission to the programme must have passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry plus any one of the following subjects from Biology, Geology, and Geography and must have passed in each of the concerned three subjects. As you have studied Geography, Mathematics and Economics in the Class 12, you can only apply for BSc Geography offered at the Banaras Hindu University if you have studied Physics, and Chemistry as the compulsory subjects.
The Department of Geography offers a two-year, full-time MA Geography programme at the postgraduate level. There is no other college affiliated to the University of Delhi which offers the MA Geography programme. As you belong to the SC category and have obtained the score of 115 in the CUET PG, it will not give you guarantee to get admission in the Delhi University, as the cutoffs may vary every year depending upon number of factors such as number of seats in the department, number of candidates who have applied for the programme, etc.
For MHT CET eligibility, the basic requirement for General category students is at least 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology for certain courses) in 12th standard from a recognized board. For reserved category students from Maharashtra, the minimum is 40%. Since you have 36 in Physics, 39 in Chemistry, and 79 in IT, your PCM aggregate is slightly low, but eligibility is determined on the overall aggregate in the qualifying subjects. You must check the official CET brochure to confirm your subject combination eligibility for the specific course you are applying to. For Engineering, PCM is mandatory; for Pharmacy or other allied courses, PCB is considered. From your marks, it seems you might still be eligible if your aggregate meets the minimum criteria. Remember, eligibility is one thing, but admission will depend on your CET score. Even with a borderline percentage, a high CET percentile can open doors to good colleges.
Thank you, and all the best.
