Geography
Hello,
Yes, it has several pros if you wish to prepare for UPSC. Doing a Masters in Geography will definitely prove as a good decision in the long run since a lot of questions and interrelated essay questions find their roots in Geography.
Geography optional syllabus can be broadly divided into three parts. It constitutes Physical Geography, Human Geography, and Indian Geography. Paper I consists of physical and human geography and Paper II consists of Indian geography. All of this will pretty much get covered in your Masters.
Although MA Geography is not a necessity to clear UPSC's geography section, it is still a good course with job opportunities or you can also pursue higher studies like PhD as a backup option.
There is no loss if you look at it from this perspective. So yes, MA Geography would be a good option.
