pdwords Student Expert 24th Apr, 2021

Hello,

When it comes to the eligibility criteria for MSc Geology then it's passed graduation in geology or any other relevant subject along with two combination subjects amongst maths, biology, physics, chemistry so if you have done graduation in arts stream then you're not eligible for MSc Geology, and moreover you can switch from Science to Arts at ug, or pg level but the contrary doens't happen.

can anyone explain about Csir-Net jrf its eligibility criteria subjects fellowship jobs career and after completing Msc in geology am i eligible?

pdwords Student Expert 24th Apr, 2021

Hello,

CSIR NET is conducted mainly for mathematical science, chemical science, physical science, earth science, life science and the eligibility criteria is passed master's degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university with 55% aggregate, in case of reserved categories there is relaxation of 5%,  if you want to pursue higher education such as PhD you should appear for CSIR NET, there is Junior Research Fellowship for which is candidate qualify get stipend of Rs 31,000 for first two years, and later if they get promoted to SRF receive Rs 35,000 stipend on a monthly basis, and there is also Assistant Professor so if you qualify CSIR NET it opens up opportunities in terms of teaching in university level, of course simply qualifying CSIR NET doesn't guarantee a job, you need to build your profile in terms of teaching experience, research and other academic contributions, and even PSUs or various other companies recruit CSIR JRF candidates, so you have that option as well, as you have done MSc in Geology you can go for Earth Science in CSIR NET, this exam is conducted two times a year, to know more details consider going through previous year official notification at https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/webinfo/File/GetFile?FileId=32&LangId=P

Which exams am i eligible after MSc geology?

Aadarsh Gupta 17th Apr, 2021

Hello aspirant,

After completing MSc either you can go for job or for research.

If you get placed it's good.

If not then following are the options.

  • After masters their is :
  • GATE
  • NET
  • GSI
  • Most of the PSUs are refraining from conducting their own exam, nowadays most of them are comducting their interviews based on GATE score. Some other companies may arranges their off campus interviews or exams.
  • Qualifying GATE you can apply for different companies, many companies are there which hire based on GATE score. With a valid GATE score one can go for MTech., or institute sponsored PhD only in IITs, IISERs, IISC
  • Qualifying CSIR NET-JRF you can apply for PhD in IITs, or any other university since its a personal fellowship. Since non-NET fellowship is no longer a valid programme, thus for PhD you have to apply for NET which will fetch you a monthly stipend. Then you can apply for professor posts.
  • You also can apply for project assistant post, about which you will know more while pursuing masters. Qualifying atleast CSIR NET Lectureship can give you can edge over others.
  • Then comes GSI (Geological Survey of India) which according to me is the heaven of Indian geologist. I think the word heaven is enough to describe GSI. GSI exam is held, qualifying the exam will lead you to next round which is interview round, then final selection.
  • If one wants to study abroad then exam like TOEFl, GRE, IELTS are considered as standards, each university has their own set of requirement.

Hope this helps you

All the best for your future

im b.sc geology student how should I apply for gov jobs??? in geology field nd what are other courses with respect to geology like diploma is it necessary to to do masters degree???

Subhrajit Mukherjee 30th Mar, 2021

If you want to go for Government jobs then there are quite a number of them like SSC CGL, RRB NTPC, UPSC CSE, State Civil Service, State PSC  etc but this will not be anything related to your field of study i., Geology.

Now if you want to get a job on what you have studied then you should go for MSc Program. You can also for Geophysics at BHU which will give you an ample scope to progress in your field. If you clear GATE with good results in Geology & Geophysics paper then you will also get to work as an Geologist in Government PSU which will justify the investment of your time.

I hope this answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!

who should study bsc geology course? what are the points one should possess to have a good interest in the subject

Pankhuri Kumari 11th Mar, 2021
Hii!
Interest doesn't see anything else. If you feel good and excited and curious reading a subject, that shows your interest. Same is with geology. And to study a course, practically you need to look at the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for BSC geology states that the candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 50% marks in science stream from a recognised board of education. If you satisfy this criteria, you can study the course.
Hope this helps.
Good luck !
