For further higher study in Robotics, which core stream is preferrable to choose out of Mechanical, Electronics & Computer Science?

aswathypadinjakkara 11th Oct, 2021

Hey

Hope you are doing fine.

Robotics is the discipline which bridge the way between mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and even psychology. To be a robotics engineer, you need to have a whole range of different skills and areas of expertise. There are 3 core disciplines within robotics that is mechanics, electronics, and computer science.

Mechanical Engineering - This branch of engineering looks at the physical systems which make up a robot. Subtopics like mechanics, materials engineering and manufacturing are core to industrial robotics. Often, mechanical engineering courses will have specialization in mechatronics or robotics, but these tend to be focused mostly on physical design and actuation.

Electrical and Electronic Engineering - This branch of engineering gives you the basics of electronics, embedded systems, low-level programming, and control theory. Often, electrical engineering courses will also provide specialisations in robotics or automation, which will be centred around the control of robots rather than the mechanical design.

Computer Science - A lot of people in research seem to enter robotics through computer science. Common platforms remove the research focus from the physical hardware and instead allow researchers to concentrate on software and high-level programming. Often, these courses will include robotic programming topics such as Artificial Intelligence and Software Design.

These are the core 3, but there are also many other routes you could take to end up working in robotics.

Of course, you are never going to be a leading expert in all of the sub-fields of robotics, but developing yourself into a competent computer scientist, electrical engineer and mechanical engineer will put you in a great position when you continue to specialise throughout your career.

Hope this helps.

jsos is valid board there is no problem in higher study??

Anurag Khanna 19th May, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

No, there would be no problem if you complete your studies from JSOS because JSOS stands for Jharkhand State Open School board and it is responsible for conducting board exams for classes 10th and 12th at state level for Jharkhand state. Few months back there were many rumors spreading around on social media that JSOS is no more valid but the fact is it is an government recognized board recognized by Government of Jharkhand and there is no any official notification for any kind of dissolvement of that board so don't worry if you have passed out you classes from that board and if you pass from JSOS board then also you can go for higher studies.

So don't believe on rumors.

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!

hi i am diploma in mechanical engineering and having 14 years experience in purchase, vendor development, costing department...now I want to know the which higher study is best for my career growth please suggest...

Subhrajit Mukherjee 2nd Jun, 2021

The experiences you have is great which you can properly channelize via Management course like MBA. But for MBA you need to have any Bachelors Degree. So you have to do a Btech/any degree as you wish in order to pursue MBA.

Apart from this nowadays Data Science is a new craze and it is used in every sector. IIT MADRAS offers a online BSc Program in Data Science. You can do this course. The course will give you a proper exposure as well as a IIT tag which will help you upgrade your job profile. Now as this is a online degree this will help you to work alongside. And after completion of these you may appear for MBA (if you want else you have plenty of jobs in this field).

TO know more about the IIT MADRAS program you may visit the link below:

I hope my answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!

which institute is best between IISC and IISER Pune for higher study of science as well as for adventures and cool college life.

Abhishek Roy 16th Jan, 2021

Incase you secure certain rank in JEE Main/Advanced or KVPY for Undergraduate or GATE/JAM incase you are applying for Postgraduation, which grants you admission to either of IISc Bangalore or Top IISERs like Pune, Mohali, Kolkata. It is a no brainer to choose IISc Bangalore over any IISER. IISc Bangalore besides having a very strong recurring in terms of faculty, infrastructure, research facilities, employer outlook also has a very rich campus life and peer environment. Bangalore itself is a very vibrant city and is apt for a healthy college life. However, In case you do not make it to IISc Bangalore you may surely choose IISER Pune as your Go-To Institute.
