what is difference between bhm and bba in hospitality?? if i do bba in hospitality is it a good option

Akhila Nagasree 5th Dec, 2018

Hello,

Both courses are bachelor degrees, basic at best. Whilst the BBA has a minimum duration of three years (split into six semesters), the BHM has a duration of four years (split into eight semesters) minimum.
The BBA is a generalist degree with a lower fee-schedule whereas the BHM is vocational in nature and tends to be slightly more expensive. Ideally, you ought to be clearing off any loans taken within seven years (tax-deductible, that’s why!)
Value, as is often said, is subjective and variable across time, space, location and context. A question with detailed commentary would’ve helped. I shall, however, attempt to answer it thus - If you consider yourself entrepreneurial, go do a BHM. If you desire the safety of a job, and safety alone is top priority, go do a BBA.
Just remember, the decision to do either is irreversible. The leisure, tourism and hospitality sectors require candidates with vocational skills. They’d prefer a BHM over a BBA any day of the week. Similarly, a BHM graduate employed in, say, a BFSI institution, doing meaningful work is rare too.

Hope this helps...
