IAS Officer
Dear student,
It is not necessary that an IAS officer works in only one state throughout his/her lifetime the scenario keeps changing, the state or area in which they are working is assessed and they might be shifted to some other state as well. But initially at the start of career they have to work in one district for 8 to 10 years and gain experience , it totally depends on the quality of your work, also transfers take place but not too frequently.

Hello aspirant
As you know so much on the things about age limit and all so you also must be knowing that to crack UPSC exam a candidate must be a graduate from any recognised University doesn't matter in which stream you did your graduation.
As you have mentioned that you don't want to do engineering so no problem you are having lots of choices to do in your graduation.
See you don't want to do engineering then you can do graduation in bachelor of arts which most of the students who want to prepare for UPSC exam and it helps them so much because most of the syllabus coincide with the syllabus of UPSC CSE exam but still if you don't want to do to this graduation you can do some technical things also not engineering but Bachelor of Science which would not be that much Lengthy like engineering and you will be getting a lot of time to prepare for UPSC CSE exam.
Again if you don't find these things helpful you can do anything in whichever you feel interest as academics too matter very much.
Hope it helps!
thank you!
Hello there
I appreciate your dedication that at a very early age you're determined to become an IAS officer.
See at this age you must be focused on your academics too as they play a very vital role. Now coming on to the IAS preparation you can join any college any stream whichever you like it couldn't be working as a obstacle in your aim of becoming IAS officer.
As you are asking of any specific college so i would not recommend you or even there's no any specific school who'll provide you the preparation of upsc exam at this age. If there is so, then that's not worth it.
From my own point of view firstly do your 11 and 12 class with dedication and the from your graduation period start your preparation.
Best of luck!
Hi
If you are still in your intermediate second year i.e in your class 12 then I won't recommend you to start your UPSC preparation right now because class 12th is very important and in this year you need to work hard to score well in your 12th board examination so that you can get admission in a good college for your graduation. If you want to become in IAS officers then you need to clear UPSC civil services examination and to be eligible for that you need to be at least a graduate so what you can do is start your preparation for UPSC during your graduation if you can manage with it otherwise after completing your graduation.
Anyway,
If you still want to study for UPSC preparation in your to 12th itself then I would recommend you to first complete your 12th board examination syllabus and then what you can do is start with class 6th - 12th History Civics geography books .

- ---------) Discipline is the key to crack UPSC, so you need to make a routine/ time table and follow it .
----------)Read newspaper like the Hindu or Indian Express and magazines like Yojana, Kurukshetra, Economic and Political Weekly to keep yourself updated with the current events and issues.
----------) take short breaks in between your studies, studying continuously can be brain tiring and it becomes difficult to focus and study with concentration, so take breaks to relax and refresh your brain otherwise you won't be able to retain whatever you read.
-----------)Choose your optional subject wisely , choose the subject you have interest in.
----------)Make short notes for each subject, these will be your life saviour and will help you in your revisions a lot as syllabus is wide
----------)Set daily goals like I have to cover these many topics today, weekly goals like I have to cover these chapters this week and practice their questions too, by the end of this week and similarly set monthly goals to cover the syllabus and meet them without any fail.
----------)Revise :- there's no point of preparing for the exam if you couldn't recall anything in the UPSC Examination so you should stress on revision as well.
----------) Your mains examination is in written, so you need to work your speed and also work on improving how to present the knowledge you have on paper, so answer writing practicing should be your priority
----------)Solve previous year question papers and mock test papers ;- You should solve these , it will give you idea of types of questions asked and their difficulty level and will help you a lot.
----------)Also work on your communication skills and personality development as it plays an important role in your interview round.
