HR ke liye kaun sa IBS campus best hai ?? Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune or Gurgaon

Nishant Lamba 23rd Jan, 2018

Being an alumnus of IBS Hyderabad, I will share my opinion.

Majority of students go for Marketing or Finance during their MBA whereas very few students opt for HR or Operations and other minor streams. This same happens in IBS too. In my batch of 1100 students, only 55 opted for HR and rest batch was divided in Maketing and Finance. IBS is a decent option but not the best (specially for HR). Personally I have known 3 girls of different batch (My senior, my batch and Junior batch) and they were not placed. Packages and profiles for HR is below average. IBS Hyderabad and Mumbai are known for Finance companies. Opting for HR here should be your last preference. I would suggest you to go for XLRI, TISS or other few top insitutes for HR. If you are going for Finance and with a score of 170 in NMAT, you cannot get NMIMS Mumbai or Bangalore. Options you are left with are XIMB Rural Manegement Programme, IBS, NMIMS Hyderabad (not sure at this score).  But still if you want to go for IBS only, then you can consider my points below:

Not all IBS campuses are good and IBS Hyderabad varies with all others hugely in terms of Fee Structure. 6.25 per annum tuition fee and the whole course will cost you more than 15 lakhs (Including hostel, food and average personal expenses). Another point where Hyderabad campus is different is the campus. The campus is located away from the city in 97 acres of green lushed land and believe me, it's beautiful. Talking about Placements then with a batch size of 1000+, IBS has the potential to get you placed. Companies offering packages from 3.5 lakhs to 48 lakhs (International), you will have an opportunity to grab a great job there. But what I feel where other campuses have an edge is the ROI. Fee differs hugely between Hyderbad and other campuses. If I'm not wrong it's 40-50% lesser than the main campus. Average package of Hyderabad is around 6.75 whereas, for Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon campuses varies from 5.5-6.25 Lakhs. ROI plays a major role here. It's completely your choice. There can be only 2 points in favor of other campuses than Hyderabad.

  • ROI
  • Location, if you are not willing to go Hyderabad for MBA.

Choosing Hyderabad campus may have few advantages as:

  • Better Brand Value compared to other campuses.
  • MBA degree rather than a PGDM (You can get an MBA from Dehradun campus by taking an exam, contact officials to know more about this)
  • Living in Gurgaon campus will have the majority of NCR or north Indian students but Hyderabad will have students from all the states of the country which makes it a diversified campus to live.
  • Extra Curriculum activities is a highlighting and a great learning factor in Hyderabad campus as there are more than 30 clubs and after classes, students work till midnight for their clubs, events, guest lectures, competitions and yes, also, parties.
  • Few common companies visit different IBS campuses and I have seen they offer slightly higher packages to Hyderabad students.

So, at the end, if ROI matters a lot to you, go for Mumbai>Pune>Gurgaon campuses, if not then Hyderabad will give you a lifelong learning experience.

You can also look for NMIMS Hyderabad, IMT Hyderabad as they are good brand names and an amazing ROI they can give.

At the end My personal advice with all the experiece I have will be that you can go for IBS H or M if you will opt for Finance and for HR It's quite sceptical for me to suggest any IBS.  Better try for another year with CAT, XAT and TISS if you are strongly into HR.

What will be weightage given to nmat score, 10th, 12th, Graduation and GD, PI by IBS, in final merit list 2018-20 batch.

Akshay Kadam 21st Jan, 2018

In the final selection of IBS following components are given weightage:

  • 10th class: 12 percentage
  • 12th class: 12 percentage
  • Graduation: 16 percentage
  • Group Discussion: 30 percentage
  • Personal Interview: 30 percentage

In the final merit list, no weightage is given to marks of any MBA exam. MBA exam marks are only used to call students for the second round of GD and interview. So, you need to focus on your second round preparation if you have got a call from any IBS school. And one more thing all the IBSAT colleges follow the same norms for the selection procedure. Although the overall cut-off will differ due to the type of students applying for selection.
