how much marks required in jee advanced for admission in IITs for SC Category Student???

Piyush kesarwani 12th May, 2022

Hello aspirant,

The JEE advance Cutoff for SC Category is actually lower as compared to General and OBC Category student, but nevertheless, you must practice very hard to get yourself into IIT after giving and clearing JEE Advance. Looking at the previous year Cutoff for JEE advance, a SC Category must need around 70+ marks in JEE advance to clear the Cutoff for JEE advance and get into IIT. But, please note that this is just a minimum cutoff or marks, so you must need to score way greater than this to get into top IIT's.

Further, please note that the above mentioned JEE advance cutoff is based on the previous year Cutoff and it bound to get change every year as the JEE advance Cutoff Depends on various factors like : Difficulty level of the paper, previous year ciutoff, number of aspirants appearing the exam, etc.

Further, to know more about the Previous year JEE advance Cutoff you can follow the below ,mentioned link to know more about it : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-cutoff

Further, you can check the JEE advance college predictor tool to know more about your admission chances in other colleges based on your rank and marks : https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-advanced-college-predictor?utm_source=qna&utm_medium=jee_adv_cp

I hope that this will help.

As per the recent announcement, JAB is going to conduct JEE Mains and Adv instead of NTA. Will JAB again reinforce the 75 % criteria for appearance in exam and admission in NITs / IITs or will its status remain the same (removed) as given in the respective brochures...?!??!

Anurag Khanna 11th May, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

As the tenure of NTA has been completed on March 31st 2022 so now controls are handed over to the JEE Apex board which has been recreated by Indian government. Now JEE-Main and JEE-Advance 2022 & 2023 will be conducted by JEE Apex board.

Now the eligibility criteria will be hardly changed because now application process has also been completed for session 1 of JEE-Main but still kindly wait for any notification to be releases by either NTA  or JEE-Apex board or by Indian government but now there are very less chances for restoration of 75% criteria at least for this year.

For now JEE-Main is going to be conducted as per the following revised schedule :-

>>>>>> first in June (June 20th - 29th) and
>>>>>> second session will be in July (from July 21st to 30th).
You can also take JEE-Main Learning package for solving series of mock tests :-

do jee 2022 aspirants need to have more than 75 percent marks in boards for admission in IITs and NITs even if NTA has removed the 75% criteria....?!

ginnisachdeva02_9364270 Student Expert 22nd Apr, 2022

Hi Aspirant!

NTA has removed the  75% criteria from the minimum eligibility norms as per the recent JEE MAINS 2022 notification, available on  jeemain.nta.nic.in

However, for BArch, it is necessary to have atleast 50% in Physics, Chemistry and mathematics as well as 50% aggregate in qualifying examination. Top 2,50,000 successful candidates on the basis of JEE Main 2022 exam will be eligible to attempt the JEE Advanced exam.

And for IITs and NITs the 75% criteria is not removed, either candidate must have 75%in 12th or they must be in the top 20 percentile in their class 12 exam (65% for SC/ST candidates).

My Score is 439 (CS gate 21) and I am from OBC category . What are the chances of getting admission to good NITs and IITs?

Piyush 20th Apr, 2022

hello aspirant,

It is quite difficult to predict your chances of admission as you have not mentioned your GATE Rank. When it comes to the GATE score for IIT, it is not fixed. It depends on the individual institutes and their GATE Cutoff marks. However, if we talk about the previous results, the student must score a GATE rank up to or below 200 . Moreover, students can also get a seat in IIT if the rank is around 600 to 800. Further, if you get a rank below that this, Then you can consider that you have git a good chances to get admission in some of the good NIT's.

Further, teh Category wise GATE 2022 Cutoff for CSE goes like this : General - 25 . OBC - 22.5 . SC/ST/PWD - 16.6 .

Further, if you wish to know more details about the GATE Qualifying Cutoff for Computer Science and Engineering, then you can follow the below mentioned link to know more about it : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-cutoff-for-cse

You can also check the branch wise GATE Cutoff by following the link below : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-cutoff

Further, you can know your chances for GATE Admission by following the GATE predictor tool : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-college-predictor

NIT ROURKELA IS BATTER THAN SOME IITs?

manjumolakalapalli5 16th May, 2022

hello aspirant...

hope you are doing good.

it depends. but the answer will be yes. just because it is IIT people assume that it is better that NITs but NIT rourkela is better than some IITs as it is In the year 2020, NIRF has NIT Rourkela ranked 19 and IIT Bhubaneswar ranked 26. As a result, NIT Rourkela is ranked higher than IIT Bhubaneswar.

NIT Rourkela has improved infrastructure, overall development, exposure, and curriculum, and now that it is one of three NITs, there is even more to look forward to.

hence, NIT Rourkela is better than some IITs.

hope this information helps you...

All the best.

My 12 bihar boards result is 362/500, My result are below 75% but i am in josaa top 20% according to the previous year (2017, 2018 ,2019) top 20% trends of bihar board, Should i prepare for jee main 2023 to get admission in nit/iits??

Anurag Khanna 6th Apr, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

See even if you have not secured 75% marks but however if you are able to secure your position in top 20 percentile of your respective board's result as per the criteria of JOSAA-2023 then you will be eligible to get admission in NITs/IIITs/ CFTIs through your your JEE-Main 2023 score and also note that at this point of time It is quite difficult to say anything very sure for next year because till now no information has been released for JEE-Main 2023 but this year d efinitely you can get admission into aforesaid institutions on the basis of your JEE-Main or JEE-Advance score even if you don't have 75% in class 12th because 75% criteria has been lifted off for this year as well so now you need to just pass in all the subjects prescribed in class 12th.

  • IIT(ISM) Dhanbad
  • IIT Ropar
