Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
hello amanj Jaiswal
Hello Amanj,
If you have not applied or registered for a normal round of IIT in case of MTech, you are eligible for registration for the spot round. The difference in case of not having registered for the normal round instead of doing so, you are required to give the GATE entrance examination and have a valid GATE score with you. This will allow you to take admission by means of the spot round in MTech in the IIT that you would prefer.
I hope this helps.
All the best!!
dear sree preetham,
It is an excellent choice if you are into academics. The professors are learned and are best at what they do. The culture is towards good, meaningful research, although the job opportunities for the dept. are also great. The academics may feel to be a little hard but that’s what they expect out of you at IIT kanpur .
hello ritika
applied mathematics and engineering physics are good branches if you have interest in maths or physics respectively and want to go for higher studies.
economics is a good branch and is growing in India.
Civil branch has less placement but if you want to choose college over branch and exposure over placement ,you should definitely go for iit bombay.
all the best
See as you want to go to IIT Kanpur. But you haven't specified which course you want to join , what's your category . You have said nothing.
First complete your question.
I guess after seeing your profile you want to pursue Mtech. I will suggest you for gate exam , it is best. Or else for msc you can give IIT jam .
Thank you.
Hi Nikhil,
The closing rank of BS Economics last year in IIT Bombay was 2088.
The closing rank of BS Economics last year in IIT Kanpur was 2718.
The closing rank of MSc Economics last year in IIT Kharagpur was 4499.
Keeping these stats in mind, I guess you'll get Integrated MSc in IIT Kharagpur.
I would suggest you to use college predictor so as to have a better view of all the options available to you. Below is the link of college predictor,

All the best
Whatever manidipa kundu wrote is absolutely bullshit. Learn coding. Do what pleases you. Enhance your skills in coding and apply for off-campus jobs. IITs don't let you apply for good tech companies from their portal cuz they have sworn to get their top btech branches places at qny cost. They don't give a damn about chemistry and earth sciences. So aim for startup if you have idea or you can apply for some good tech companies off-campus. The chances are certainly low. Because you're not a btech person but you're not even a mere bsc guy either. Stupid Maidipa kundu answered without reading the question .
Yes it will help you alot because for taking admissions in MBA college it is necessary that you should have good profile to get good college for MBA obviosuly and you should have good marks in GMAT also for doing mba in foriegn country only IIT tag will not do .
Hello Ritik,
IIT Kanpur is one of the top college in india. All the subjects there are taught well with all the facilities. It has the most experienced teachers in all departments of chemistry.Best Lab facilities and research also. You can always try for foreign colleges if you are good enough in the academics and research. It also depends upon on your interest whether you want to learn this subject and skills. If you are not sure, then you can take drop and work hard for the subject you want to take.
Best Wishes!
Let's compare both the colleges
1. Campus IIT KGP > IIT K (though difference not that much)
2. Faculty qaulity, IIT K > IIT KGP (few faculty members at IITK in electrical branch are highly qualified, great innovaters and educaters)
3. College Fest - IIT KGP > IIT K (though both have huge auro and plethora of events in their college fest)
4. Placements - Almost all old IIT's have similar placements record, though officially no one releases the data
5. Campus life - IITK > IIT KGP
6. Academic Pressure - IIT K > IIT KGP (though both are eqaully intense)
Hence, both are great colleges, any option would be no less than fantastic
Though, if I would be in your place, I wuld had preferred IIT KGP
Thank You
