The process of finding errors in a developed product is known as software testing. It also checks to see if the actual results match the expected results and assists in the identification of defects, missing requirements or gaps.
Testing is the final step before releasing a product to the market. It entails examining, analyzing, observing, and evaluating various aspects of a product.
Professional software testers use a combination of manual and automated testing tools. The testers report the results of the tests to the development team. The ultimate goal is to provide a high-quality product to the customer, which is why software testing is so critical.

Hello aspirant,
No, Information technology is not required to crack JEE mains as well as Advance, even it is not in the syllabus of the exam.
you only need to study physics, Chemistry and Mathematics thoroughly and if possible each and every topic of the syllabus, do as much practice you can and must solve previous year question papers as well as mock test.
you can check JEE syllabus from the link below:
for mains. https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-syllabus
for advance: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-syllabus
But if you want to do engineering of any branch you have to study one programming language as your subject in one of your semester in first year. And if you are willing to do Computer science engineering or information technology or any software relevant branch further it will help you but not mandatory to crack the exam.
