Electronics and telecommunication is a very good branch. And the most preffered branch after CSE in India currently. There are a lot of job opportunities in this branch. The jobs are available in both private and government sector.
For government jobs you should appear for exams like GATE and Engineering Services Exam.
Many private companies offer core jobs to E&TC students and you can also get software related jobs like CSE and IT students.
Hey Aspirant,
Management quota seats in think it has anything to do with your pgcet as moreover management quota seats are for direct admission. In colleges.mostly 15% and in some cases 20% seats are reserved for management quota so yes you can ask the College management for admissions. If you fulfill there criteria then you will be granted admission.
Best of luck
Dear,

Hope this helps!
Yes, Calcutta University does have its own TPO now. Here is a link to his profile:- https://www.linkedin.com/in/krishnendu-banerjee-8ba61324
Now coming to placements stats of Instrumentation Engineering for 2020 batch:-
Recruiters were Linde (2 offers), Worley (3 offers), Technip (1 offer), Haldia Petrochemicals (1 offer), TCS (3 offers), Cognizant (1 offer)
Packages ranging from 4 to 6.6 LPA and the median being 6 LPA for core ones. 11/16 students got placed which is not bad amidst this pandemic and considering some CUians do prefer higher studies over job.
Instrumentation Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipments that are used to monitor and control engineering systems and machinery. They are required mostly in the process, biomedical and chemical industry where measurement & automation plays a crucial role. The demand for Instrumentation Engineers will only be going to increase with the advent of Artificial Intelligence, Self Driving Cars, Robotics etc.
Additionally, Instrumentation Engineering being a circuit branch will easily allow you to switch from core sector to software related roles in product based MNCs which often pays 7 figure CTCs. There are core CS subjects in IE syllabus like Data Structures & Algorithms, Advanced Programming, Software Engineering., Computer Organization & Architecture, Database Management System, and Computer Networks which will aid you further if you wish to do higher studies in CS.
Cheers
If you think placement wise , its definately electronics and communication.
It is better because of the word (communication )( as you also have some courses of coding in it , which most IT companies prefer.)
But in terms of future , it depends on your passion and interest.
Good luck for future!!
Hopefully my answer helps.
