Well since the admission is based on interview and class 12th results, the difficulty will depend totally on how well you perform in interview. 12th results will be a constant component cause that's already decided and then the interview will play the most important role where your performance will decide how well chances you have to get admission in the course.

Most of the companies (especially IT companies) allows students of every branch to sit in the placement process. To mention the names, For mechanical engineering in BITS , the recruiting companies are BHEL, ISRO, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Maruti and Ashok Leyland . Other than this, students are allowed to sit in other companies such as Microsoft, Bajaj, Birla, Wipro, Dell, Amazon, LTI, Uber etc. It depends on your skills and knowledge that how you crack the interview.

The basic eligibility criteria for BA mass communication, students need to pass 10+2 from a recognized board of education.
Candidates also should have scored 50% in 10+2.
Admission is done on the basis of entrance and merit based .
Some of the entrance exams are CUCET and TANCET.
Many colleges/universities offer admission to students on the basis of their 10+2 marks .Some colleges also give scholarships to the students.
The maximum fees of the course from private and government college is 13.50 LAKHS and 2.95 lakhs respectively.

UPSC release notification for NDA and NAE. To clear the exam and get selected in the sab interview you should be passed 12th . Who selected NAE will undergo four yr btech course. There will be exam and who qualifies the exam they will be called for SSB interview conducted by service selection board Navy , indian ary and by Air Force . You must qualify exam & interview. And the interview is scheduled for five days to test.

So basically counselling is a process where your all document is verify and personal interview is a process where when you pass in entrance exam after they call you personal interview round where they asked some question releated to your courses which you have pursing.

You can opt distance education in an open university like IGNOU to pursue BA in sociology . It would be better for you to manage worklife as well studylife properly .

Well , meanwhile you can also prepare for IAS slowly . For IAS preparation, your consistency towards studies should be maintained properly.In IAS , there will be three stages of exam ... prelims ,mains and PI (Personal Interview). First clear prelims and mains . You must have to study hard to clear atleast these two level .
