Hello sir,
I hope that you are doing absolutely great.
With reference to your above mentioned query, I would like to tell you that yes, if you have done and completed your phd in astrophysics then there is a job and career scope in future for you in isro. ISRO recruit candidates with PhD in Astronomy, Physics and Mathematics along with engineers in disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, electronics and computer science. So, there is a chance for you to get recruited in ISRO as an ISRO Scientist.
Further, if you won't able to join ISRO, then also there are wide range of scope and future options for someone who has done PDH in Astrophysics.
Other job opportunities for PHD in astrophysics are as follow :
Further, here is the complete guide that you can take reference from to become an isro scientist :
I hope that this will help.
1. If you want to do the course in Astronomy, then going for the course of MSc Astronomy after your BSc Physics will be a better choice. Now if you do a PhD in Astronomy, then also you will be called as a Astronomer.
2. ISRO, hire research fellows in Radio Astronomy sector, but recruiting Astronomer is a less often case and no records are there on the ICRB website.
3. Getting ISRO is hard, but if you go for the course of MTech in Solid State Physics or MTech in Optoelectronics after your MSc Physics (through GATE & Interview) then you will be able to get directly placed as an Scientist at ISRO directly. Apart from this for being Astronomical Researcher you can apply in IUCAA/ ISRO/National Centre for Radio Astronomy & then can join some way at ISRO, but there are no information available regarding the recruitment of Astronomer on the official website of ICRB.
4. At Masters level, only IIT Indore offers the MSc Astronomy course through IIT JAM Physics examination. Apart from this you can apply for Integrated PhD or PhD program through NET/GATE/TIFR-GS/JEST at:
