is it worthwhilet take admission in B.Tech CSE in Hyderabad or in other branch or should not take admission

sadafreen356 27th May, 2025

It's generally worthwhile to pursue a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) if you have an interest in the field and are willing to put in the effort. CSE offers strong career prospects and higher earning potential compared to some other engineering branches. However, the best choice depends on your individual interests and career goals. If you're not passionate about programming and software development, you might find another branch, like Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, more fulfilling.

Why B.Tech CSE is often a good choice:

High Demand:

CSE is a highly sought-after field, leading to numerous job opportunities in various domains.

Higher Earning Potential:

CSE graduates typically earn higher salaries than those in other engineering fields.

Diverse Career Paths:

CSE opens doors to various specializations like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cyber Security.

No Prerequisite:

You don't necessarily need a strong background in 12th-grade CS to succeed in a B.Tech CSE program.

Factors to consider before choosing CSE:

Interest and Passion:

If you don't have a genuine interest in computer science, you might find the studies challenging and unmotivating.

Personal Preferences:

Consider your strengths and interests. If you prefer hands-on work and problem-solving, CSE might be a good fit. If you prefer a more hands-on, physical approach, other branches like Mechanical Engineering might be more suitable.

Career Goals:

Reflect on your long-term career aspirations. If you want to work in software development, AI, or other tech-related fields, CSE is a natural choice.

Alternative Branches:

Electrical Engineering: Focuses on the design, development, and operation of electrical systems.

Mechanical Engineering: Deals with the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems and machinery.

Civil Engineering: Involves the design and construction of infrastructure projects.

Recommendation:

If you have a strong interest in computer science and are willing to put in the effort, a B.Tech in CSE is a worthwhile investment. However, if you're not passionate about the field or prefer a more hands-on, physical approach, consider other engineering branches that align better with your interests.

is it worthwhilet take admission in B.Tech CSE in Hyderabad or in other branch or should not take admission

gopi 27th May, 2025

Hello Narendra,

It ultimately comes down to your interest and future objectives. If you are inclined to technology, software, or solving problems, then B.Tech CSE is worth considering in Hyderabad, which is an IT city with job and internship opportunities all around you. On the other hand, if you are not really sure about CSE or have a greater interest in another field (like ECE, Mechanical or Civil) then it is wise to choose a branch that is relevant to your interest instead of following the trends blindly.

You can also evaluate the college with respect to the reputation, faculty, placement records and infrastructure. If you will be going to an average college and you are confident you can get a better college, it may be smart to wait a year if you prepare for it. But if the college is decent with good exposure, then it is probably the right move to secure your admission now.

My son is in 11th now and will be appearing for IITJEE 2026. He has been studying in India since 6th standard. He wants to write both Mains and Advanced. Is it better for him in General or OCI category?

gopi 27th May, 2025

If your son is an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holder, and has been studying in India since Class 6, he can take both the JEE Main and JEE Advanced. If he has completed his 10+2 education in India, he can also apply for admission for IITs. Based on current guidelines:

  • OCI candidates are treated equally to Indian candidates at JEE Mains and Advanced provided the eligibility requirement is satisfied (especially educational qualifications and residence).
  • He can access the General (Gen) category if he does not qualify for any reservation (for example, Gen-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC/ST).
  • Your child will be in the General category, so he will be merit listed along with Indian candidates and can be allocated an IIT seat through JoSAA.

Recommendation: If your child does not qualify as a reserved category and is qualified to be an Indian citizen the General category is usually a good option. Just remember to look at the current JEEs brochure each year, since rules do change.

My Persentage 75% i am MBC category I get Loyola icam college of engineering and technology in CSE and IT department

kumardurgesh1802 27th May, 2025

Hello there,

With 75% in your qualifying examination and belonging to the MBC category, your chances of getting admission into Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET), Chennai, in the CSE or IT department through Tamil Nadu state counselling (TNEA) will depend on a few key factors:

  • Cut-off trends : For MBC category students, previous year cut-offs for CSE and IT at LICET have generally been higher due to demand. A cut-off mark of 185+ is typically required for CSE, slightly lower for IT.

  • Counselling round : If your cut-off percentage (based on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) is lower than the previous year’s cut-off, you might still get a seat in later rounds or in the IT department, which usually has slightly lower closing cut-offs.

  • Management quota : If you do not get a seat through TNEA counselling, you may consider applying through the management quota, but the fees will be higher.

Based on your 75% marks, if your PCM cut-off is competitive, you may have a chance in the IT department. For CSE, chances are moderate to low unless the cut-offs drop this year or you apply under management quota.

Am I eligible for NET Environmental Science, being a student of Integrated MA with 3 yr specialisation in English Studies at IIT Madras? English was given on the basis of CGPA and I dont like it. My reserach interest lies in Climate Change Studies.

Samriddha Pal 26th May, 2025

Hello,

You have completed an Integrated MA with a 3-year specialization in English Studies at IIT Madras.  While this provides a strong foundation in English, it may not directly align with the subject requirements for Environmental Science in the UGC NET.

If your research interest lies in climate change studies, enroll in a postgraduate program in Environmental Science, Climate Studies, or a related field to meet the eligibility criteria. You can also consider other examinations or certifications that align with your current qualifications and research interests.

Hope this helps. All the best!

With a score of 185 in CUET PG 2025 for MA ENGLISH (General Category). Do I have a chance of getting into AUD( Ambedkar University, Delhi. Kashmere Gate) looking at the past trends of cut-offs? Is it a good uni that I should consider AUD over DU?

Samriddha Pal 26th May, 2025

Hello,

With a score of 185, you have good chances of getting into AUD. In 2024, the CUET PG cutoff scores for MA English at AUD for General category candidates were:

  • Round 1: 168
  • Round 2: 154
  • Round 3: 147

Delhi University (DU) is renowned for its MA English program, with expected CUET PG 2025 cutoffs ranging between 200–215 for General category applicants.   Given your score of 185, admission to DU might be challenging. Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD), on the other hand, offers a progressive curriculum with a focus on interdisciplinary studies, critical theory, and contemporary literature.  It emphasizes small class sizes and interactive learning, providing a conducive environment for in-depth academic exploration. So, you should go for it.

Hope this helps. All the best!
