if a student has completed 10+2 in india and is holding american passport, still SAT and EILTS is required

Dear Rupal,

Holding an American passport can land you in one of its cities.

But to pursue higher education you have to take qualifying exams like TOEFL, SAT, IELTS,.. if you don't have American ( U.S. ) Citizenship.

It is that based on those qualifying examinations most of the universities and colleges in the United States admit students from foreign countries into their institutions.

And these standardized exam test scores of your's will be primarily used by the universities as a part of the admission process.

Hence It would be better and you will have high chances to get admit in one of the good colleges in the U.S. if you have better score in any one of the standardized qualifying exams.

as a comparing, which is hardest exam jee mains or SAT/TOEFL?

Cristiano Ashim 4th Mar, 2018
This is subjective thing, so there is no correct answer.
TOEFL is a completely different animal, so you can't compare apple to oranges.
Although, JEE is tougher if compared to SAT in my opinion.

when do i have to prepare for sat exam before applying

Cristiano Ashim 8th Apr, 2018
Aside from the exam itself, you need to have an overall well groomed personality if you're looking to get a foreign admit.

Universities abroad don't just look at your score like Indian colleges. They look for the overall profile of the candidate, your co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Humanitarian work, projects you may have undertaken.

While you'll find many resources to guide you in the preparation of SAT, but you should also look to build your profile.

I am going to write sat for the next fall(2019). Will the marks be valid for the 2020 fall?

Cristiano Ashim 19th Mar, 2018
Yes of course. SAT scores do not have a "validity", but there is a catch.

Some universities demand SAT scores not more than say X years old. So in those particular cases, you'll have to have a valid SAT score obtained within that period. But rest assured, that period is always more than 2 years. So in your case, your score will be valid.

I am in class 11. How do i prepare for jee and sat exams simultaneously? Is there syllabus same?

Cristiano Ashim 17th Mar, 2018
Short answer, you shouldn't.
Long answer, see below.
  • SAT and JEE are two very different things. I'm going to stress on this again, Very different.
  • JEE tests your concepts in PCM whereas SAT tests your critical thinking and also your English.
  • If you clear JEE, you're certain to get an admission into an IIT, but there's no such guarantees when it comes to SAT. Because American universities also check your profile, your personality. So even after getting a perfect score in Sat, you're chances of getting an admit are zero if all you've done in life is study.
  • SAT doesn't require as much preparation as JEE does, mostly because the reason I mentioned above, they also test your personality as a whole.

My advice, focus on your JEE preparation. But if you absolutely want to study abroad, then build your personality and your profile. Become proficient in English, and prepare specifically for SATs.
