Yeah! Its very possible for you to do a job in the field of CSE even if you are from civil engineering. Infact you will see that in most of the companies like TCS, WIPRO etc there are lot of people working from Civil, Mechanical and Electrical branches in programming and IT jobs. But the point is that if you be a CSE student then you have to just study your curriculum but for this case you have to put some extra efforts. See every field of engineering introduces programming skills so you should focus more on that. Try to learn languages like Python, JAVA,C++,C. If you can learn this 4 languages then you will clear most of the IT job companies. Some of them also prefer SQL. So if you have time i.e., if you are in 1 or 2nd year of your BTech then try to learn as much coding as you will learn and your dream will come true thats for sure.

It depends on the Subjects one has studied in 12th.

1. For 12th Science with Biology: Can try for Paramedical Courses in different streams, Nursing, ANM, etc. (But do remember these are courses on has to complete to get a Govt. job in the respected area.)
2. For those who want to get directly into a government job, They should take exams like SSC, Railway and State Government’s Clerical and Assistant Grade Jobs. In Railway some posts are best suited for female candidates. have a look at Posts available in RRB NTPC exam. Work profile for Posts mentioned in SL. No. 1,2,3 and 5 are the same as Bank Clerk.

The best possible branches to get government jobs in IITs, NITs are the core branches like ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL ENGINEERING, CIVIL ENGINEERING, etc. You can also go for AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING, PETROLIEM ENGINEERING, BIOTECHNOLOGY, ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING, etc.  For being a professor in IITs, NITs you should have a DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY degree.
