Joint Entrance Examination (Main)
With a JEE Main CRL of 184,859 and an EWS rank of 26,822 in UP for home state quota, it’s extremely unlikely you’ll get a CSE seat in any UP government engineering college this year. Even branches like CSE at less competitive institutions typically close around EWS ranks under 10,000, and your rank falls well outside that range. For other state-run colleges like IET Lucknow or KNIT Sultanpur, even ECE or Civil programs usually close below 90,000 to 100,000 in rank. That means CSE is out of reach.
Your best option now is to explore seats in private colleges or look into lower-demand branches in government colleges if any remain. You might also keep an eye on spot rounds or later phases of state counselling.
Hello,
Congratulations on your son's success for his excellent performance in 10th standard.Biomedical Engineering is a growing field that combines engineering principles with medical and biological sciences to improve healthcare technology, such as medical devices, diagnostics, and artificial organs. The future prospects for biomedical engineering are bright, especially with advancements in healthcare, biotechnology,
For admission to VIT Vellore in B.Tech Biomedical Engineering, students need to appear for VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination), conducted by the university itself. The exam is usually held in April every year, and the application forms are released around November–December. Since your son has just entered Class 11, he should focus on strengthening his Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) foundation, along with preparation for VITEEE and JEE Main for broader opportunities. Being residents of Mumbai does not affect eligibility; admission is purely based on VITEEE performance for general category students.
Encourage your son to stay consistent in his preparation. Apart from VIT, also keep options open like IITs, NITs (through JEE Advanced/Main) and other reputed private universities that offer biomedical engineering programs.
Wishing your son all the best for his preparation and future career.
With a JEE Main PWD category rank of 152 and 53% in boards, you still have good chances in private colleges for CSE. Many private institutes don't strictly enforce high board marks if you’ve cleared JEE Main with a valid category rank. Colleges like IIIT Pune, JIIT Noida, DAIICT, LNMIIT Jaipur, and IPU-affiliated colleges may offer you a seat.
Your PWD rank is strong, so focus on private colleges that accept JEE ranks and participate in CSAB or state-level counselling. You should be able to get CSE in a decent private college despite the low board percentage.

With 91.13 percentile in JEE Main and 87.31 in MHT CET (PCM), and OBC-NCL category, your daughter has a good chance to get CS, IT, AI, or ENTC in decent Pune colleges like PCCOE, AISSMS, DY Patil Akurdi, or JSPM. Apply through both JEE and MHT CET CAP rounds.
HELLO,
Could you please define exactly what is your query please provide your full query
Hope that helps!
With a JEE Main percentile of 43.738% and being from the General (EWS) category, your approximate CRL rank would be around 7.5 to 8 lakh. At this percentile, admission into top government colleges, NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs is not possible, even with EWS reservation.
Most government colleges have cutoff percentiles much higher than this, usually above 85–90 for even less competitive branches. So, with your score, your chances are very low for any government or centrally funded institutions through JoSAA or CSAB.
However, some private engineering colleges may still offer admission based on JEE Main qualification alone, or through their own management quota or entrance processes. You can explore private colleges in your state or nearby regions, especially those that accept low JEE scores or offer direct admission.
With a rank of 1229 in OBC category, getting CSE at BIT Durg is unlikely as past cutoffs were much lower. However, the IT branch at BIT Durg is good with decent placements and can be a good alternative.
Hey! Since you’ve got 89 percentile in JEE Mains and 86 percentile in MHT-CET, and you belong to the OBC category, you do have some good options in both state and central colleges.
With your JEE percentile, getting into top NITs or IIITs might be difficult for CSE or core branches, but you might still get lower-demand branches in newer NITs or other institutes through the JoSAA counselling, especially if you include all rounds and choices carefully.
As for MHT-CET, 86 percentile is quite decent, especially for OBC category. In state counselling (CAP rounds), you could have a good chance in government or aided engineering colleges in Maharashtra, especially for branches like IT, ENTC, Electrical, or Mechanical. For CSE in top Mumbai or Pune colleges, cutoffs might be tighter, but you can still aim for mid-tier colleges where the closing ranks are higher.
Also, don’t forget to apply through both JEE and CET counselling, and fill in as many choices as possible to keep your options open.
With a JEE Main rank of 83,472, getting into VIT Mumbai in CAP Round 2 under the OMS (All India) category is not possible. In recent years, the cutoff for branches like Computer Engineering in CAP Round 2 was around 4,500 to 5,000. Since your rank is much lower, chances are almost negligible.
Hope it helps !
