Through JOSAA have we to apply for NIT and IIT at same time. How do the preferences count
Hi,
Yes, you can add IITs, NITs in your list at the same time during the JoSAA choice filling procedure. I'll tell you how.
If you qualify JEE Advanced that means you will be eligible to apply for IITs as well. Now, during counselling, you will have to do the choice filling part where - you can fill choices of IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs simultaneously in any order of your preference in the same choice filling page.
Note that you should always keep your most preferred colleges and branches at the top of the list in that order in that way your chances of getting that college (provided to meet all the criteria) increases.
Hope that was helpful.

have paid any money for josaa counselling
Hello,
There is no application fee for JoSAA 2022 registration and choice filling. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the detailed JoSAA 2022 counselling schedule at josaa.nic.in. The exam authority will open the registration and choice filling for JoSAA 2022 counseling on September 12 in online mode. During the counselling of JoSAA, two rounds of mock allotment will be held held to help candidates make correct choices for the real allotment rounds.
Do we need to pay any application fees to take part in josaa councelling (for choice filling)
hello aspirant,
YES, you have to pay some fees for the allotment of college in JOSAA Counselling. JoSAA counselling is not free . General/Open category candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 45,000, whereas SC, Gen-PwD, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, ST-PwD and SC-PwD have to pay Rs 20,000 through e-challan or through SBI net banking to appear in the counselling.
Further, to know more about the JOSAA Counselling, you can follow the below mentioned link to know more about it in detail : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/josaa-counselling
I hope that this will help.

Hello Aspirant,
Congratulations, you have secured a good rank. As per your rank it will be little difficult to get high demanding branches like CSE, IT, ECE etc in top NITs, IIITs.
Cutoff keeps changing year to year. Keep in mind that your chances to grab a seat will vary on the following basis:
- Number of seats available
- Number of students applied for the same branch
- Performance of the students
- The category you belong to etc.
Here are some colleges based on your rank :
- NIT Trichy
- NIT Meghalaya
- NIT Srinagar
- NIT Arunachal Pradesh
- NIT Mizoram
You can go for JOSAA and CSAB counselling. Also, you can apply for central University. There you will get more advantages to get colleges.

how many maximum choices can be filled in Josaa ? is their any limitation of number of choices?
During the process of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority or JoSAA, there is no maximum limit or cap to select your choices, and as a matter of fact, you can literally select each and every option present there in the order you wish. So, go on as there is no limitation on the number of choices.
Hope I have answered your question. All the best!
my category rank is 179623 from obc ncl category can i get anyy colleges through josaa counselling
Hi,
If I am being very honest, with 179k obc rank chances of getting a college is low. At least through JOSAA counselling you won’t be getting any. Hope you understand, that the rank is too high, and the competition is too much. Now you can wait for the CSAB counselling, but I cannot guarantee you anything, as this round is generally very unpredictable.
Try the JEE Main 2022 College predictor to see which colleges you have a chance of getting admission in based on your JEE Main rank - https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?utm_source=qna&utm_medium=jee_cp
Or you can go for private colleges by appearing in their entrance tests which they take separately. Some renowned private colleges are - SRM, BITS, VIT, KIIT, Lovely Professional University etc.
Good luck.
