can I use MacBook Pro laptop for BCA course ?

Sree Student Expert 6th Jun, 2021

Hello Karthik,

Yes, you can use MacBook Pro laptop for Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course. But the thing is that windows laptop would be preferred over MacBook. Because you can smoothly run programs in Windows laptop with good configuration.

I would suggest you to have a laptop which has the configuration like minimum i5 processor, 8 GB ram or above, storage 1 TB and additional 256 GB storage. In mac laptops you can't find good configuration at less cost where as in case of windows laptop it is possible.

Try to use a laptop which has above mentioned configuration so that you can run programs easily. BCA students needs to execute many programs using some programming language applications which needs to be installed on laptop and requires more space.

If your MacBook has less storage capacity then chances are there that you get delayed or strucked while executing programs and more softwares you can't download if you use external hard disk also that is not much effective. With higher ram the applications can be handled smoothly. If you can manage all these things then you can with MacBook Pro.

Hope this helps you.

Thank you!!

will vit provide laptop to freshers? If not then whst type of laptop ,i will require for cse vit vellore ?

Niranjana 15th Jul, 2021

Hello,

No, they will not give  laptop at admissions process. It must be purchased by your own, but if you require a concession or any sort of loan in such circumstances, they would gladly assist you.

Top choice for CSE students in 2021 is given below

  • Lenovo Yoga C930 (Top Pick)
  • HP Envy 6JU52UA.
  • Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop (Editor's Choice)
  • HP Pavilion Gaming 15-Inch Micro-EDGE Laptop.
  • ASUS TUF Gaming F17.
  • DELL 9310 XPS 2.
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 6.
  • MacBook Pro (13 Inch) (Premium Choice)

3 points to remember while buying a laptop

  1. Get a solid-state drive(SSD). For additional space, you can ALWAYS purchase an everlasting HDD, but the speed of an SSD will assist a lot and is well worth it. Just don't buy anything without a solid-state drive (SSD). -
  2. Choose the Ryzen 4000/5000 Series instead. Ryzen is well ahead of the curve, and may possibly be the best right now. However, is the less expensive alternative.
  3. - Look for something with a reasonable number of ports and upgradeability. I know, carrying an adapter is "simple," but it's considerably more inconvenient, and if you forget it, your gadget may become completely unusable and upgradability, so you can increase RAM or storage later if your needs change, rather than simply getting the entry-level, low-cost model now.

Hope it helped

Thank you

sir i dont have laptop and computer so how can I write vit exam in android phone

Subhrajit Mukherjee 26th May, 2021

See in the official website its clearly given that you need to have a laptop or PC as your primary device and a Android or any OS smartphone as your secondary device. So you have to collect a laptop or computer in any way. You can borrow a laptop or computer or you can visit a Computer Cafe or any rental service to use the computer for the exam.

I have no laptop to write the viteee entrance exam? is there any alternative to write the entrance test of voters?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 24th May, 2021

Hello,

It is mandatory to appear for VITEEE 2021 in Primary Device that is Desktop or Laptop and Secondary device that is Mobile Phone. If you do not have laptop or desktop then you have to arrange one from your friends/relatives/neighbors. The primary device specifications are as follows Device specification

  • Apple macOS: 64-bit macOS, and the minimum macOS version supported is macOS 10.11 (El Capitan) or
  • Microsoft Windows: 64-bit Windows on AMD or Intel CPUs, and the supported OS versions are Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. 32 bit system may not work properly since these are obsolete since 2010 and do not support the app or
  • Ubuntu Linux: 64-bit Ubuntu on AMD or Intel CPUs and the supported OS versions are Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 20.04

The secondary device specifications are as follows

  • Android mobile device with a front-facing camera, with minimum OS version of Android 8 or above, and Chrome browser (version 80 or above) or Edge browser (version 45 or above) or
  • iOS mobile device with a front-facing camera, with minimum OS version iOS 13 or above, and Safari browser (version 13 or above)

So if you arrange a desktop or laptop it should have the required specifications mentioned above.

I am giving my VITEEE. In first mock test I successfully logged in from my laptop. Then I had to use my Android for third eye. I typed codetantra website in my Chrome browser and then clicked on third eye option. But it showed Browser not supported Chrome Mobile. Please help me. And is VITEEE tough

Subhrajit Mukherjee 23rd May, 2021

I would say you should use the codetantra app when you are using it on android phone. You are not being able to use it on chrome since its not getting the permissions for remotely proctored your device.

You may visit the codetantra website to learn more:

https://iiitdmkl.codetantra.com/privacy-policy.jsp

Now VITEEE isn't tough but you need to have a moderate preparation in order to secure a good rank. You should strengthen you subjects and don't mix this up with the JEE preparation as it is much much easier than the JEE.

I hope the answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!

Sir is laptop compulsory for mock test 1reply me fast i dont have a laptop..plzz

Anurag Khanna 22nd May, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Since you have not mentioned the name of examination for which you are going to appear so it is quite difficult to guide you with an appropriate information. However if you are appearing for VITEEE 2021 Mock test then yes you should have two devices, first one is Laptop/Desktop/PC as primary device and second is your smartphone as you secondary device. As per the guidelines released by the authorities regarding VITEEE 2021 Remote proctored examination you should have both devices compulsorily for mock test as well. So if you don't have Laptop then you can use desktop attached with web cam and if you neither have desktop nor laptop then you have to borrow it from someone. You can check out the guidelines from the link given below :-

https://vit.ac.in/sites/default/files/viteee-guidelines-online.pdf

Now if this is for SRMJEEE 2021 remote proctored examination then there is no any compulsion for two devices for appearing in SRMJEEE 2021 mock test or in actual exam. So even if you don't have your laptop then you can appear for it using your smartphone only but make sure the front camera of your smartphone should be working and internet connectivity should be good. You can check out complete guidelines for SRMJEEE 2021 from the link given below :-

https://webstor.srmist.edu.in/web_assets/downloads/2021/srmjeee-21-instructions-to-candidates.pdf

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!
