In computer engineering, you have various programs to learn like Android, computer languages, computer hardware and so on. Whereas in ECE, you can learn about mobile networking, transmissions.

CSE is the best branch if you want to learn about mobile as well as laptops. Companies like Microsoft and Google prefer CSE students over ECE for recruitments as CSE students tend to have a strong base working with laptops and PCs.

If you want to do simple light-weighted tasks, coding then you can buy any laptop HP, DELL with i3 processor.

If you want to use your laptop for development purpose, then you will need a laptop with minimum 4 GB of RAM and decent storage. You will need graphics card of atleast 2GB.

If you want to play games then you will need high processor laptops with atleast 8GB RAM and graphics card.

For do programming and for practice in programming you need a laptop.

Programming language that are present in IT bsc curriculum is C, C++, mysql and many more.

For making presentation and lab work laptop Or computer is needed. Because all work are done by the software.

Yeah you can able to play need for speed and ea cricket games any other car racing games also in your laptop hp 15s du 2009tu and you can able to freelance work .

Windows OS required for play good games and intel i3 processor also good but it  show some lags when starting the game but you can play in you laptop with low graphics and  little bit heat generated.

Good graphic card and processor will improve performance , reduce battery consumption and reduce heat issues .

see since you are from computer science department , you need a laptop or desktop computer must. however laptop is a good option if you are staying in hostel. now coming to electronics devices,  it depends on college projects or technical fest if you want to participate in any of it, students makes small projects which need IC chips, microprocessors, leds etc. so its totally depends on your curriculum and syllabus and your choices to do projects.

however now a days there is many types of laptops , which ranges from 25k-1 lakhs or even more. however you need to consider some requirements to buy a laptop like it must have latest operating system like windows 10, has 1 TB hard disk, processor should be intel i3 or more. if it has preinstalled ms office this would be a plus point. check the reviews before buying any laptop.
