Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal
Hello Jhinuk Bhattacharya,
Greetings to you,
Among the two options mentioned above, I would sincerely suggest you to for CSE in MIT, Manipal if you don't have any fees boundary issues. B.Tech in MIT, Manipal costs upto 23-24 lakhs as whole while IIITDM Kancheepuram would barely cost you even half of that amount. But CSE in MIT, Manipal is equal to that of most of the IITs, NITs and IIITs. So if you don't have any fees related issues, please do take a seat in MIT, Manipal in CSE branch.

Hello kartik Gupta,
Satisfactory from an average student’s perspective.
P.s: We are doing quite good compared to the new IITs.
MUJ is a young institution. It has made efforts in getting MNCs and reputed startups for placement. But the packages offered have been mediocre.
More than 60 Companies have visted MUJ since the last 5 years. Amazon, Appirio, SAP Lab, CSC, Asahi Glass, Kirloskar, Eagle Burgman, ST Microelectronics, Cruiseline shipping, JCB, Infineon, Temenos, Shree Cement, Everest Industries, Salucro, Xebia, Advanced Technology, Sasken Communication, Wipro Technologies etc are some of the renowned companies that have visited MUJ in the past.
Below is a list of all the companies which have been our RECRUITERS (INTERNSHIP & PLACEMENT) for the year 2015–2016.
The highest package offered so far had been 10.5 lpa by Amazon.
Three other candidates received package offers of 9.5 lpa from Amazon itself.
Another company (name forgotten but was ECE related) selected 3 candidates offering them a contract of working for them at 22 lakhs for 30 months.
Another notable offer was 8 lpa by SAP Lab
Wipro and TCS are companies who have a reputation of selecting candidates in bulk. Hence there are no outsanding offers unlike Amazon offered.
The avg package offered to the selected candidates was 4.5 to 5 lpa
#Mechanincal : Speaking of no of candidates placed, I can only tell you about my branch. Out of 54 candidates, 34 Final Year Mechanical students were placed before they left for their internships. The remaining 20 either opted not to appear for the placements so that they could peruse Higher Studies or they did not qualify. But that is not the end for those who did not end up getting an offer. During Internships if a candidate’s performance is good they are offered a job there itself. Those figures are still yet unknown.
Summing up, Its your academics and your personality that will fetch you the job and not the Institution. The reason for among those 20 candidates who didn’t qualify could probably be a CGPA lower than 6.0 or backlogs or poor interview sessions. So the placement totally depends upon the student and if you have it in you, you will surely have an offer.

tyre industry.
chemical industry.
prestide industry .
Hello,
It was established in 1969 and is one of the oldest Engineering branches in Manipal. It has got its reputation ( we have our own building :p ). I can say that Faculty is not 100% best, not more than 4 to 5 professors are good with their subjects. Professors are really good and are ready to help you. Course structure is pretty good and equivalent to BITS ( HOD used to be from BITS). Excellent Chemical Engineering laboratories - Mass Transfer, Heat Transfer and a State of the art Process Control lab. Computer lab equipped with all the engineering software - CAD, Aspen, Matlab. Practice School Policy - Students can do their final year projects outside the institution. like - CSIR labs, Honeywell etc.,Coming to the important section placements - If your goal is to get a job in service/IT industry then it's not a big deal. MIT doesn't have any sustainable relations with process industries so it's a challenge to find core chemical industries in the placement list. To my knowledge, these are the companies I've seen during my 4 years of chemE at manipal : - Jindal steels - Grasim textiles - Reliance ( 8 and above cgpa, recruited 5 chemEs from 2012 batch ) - Mangalore refinery
Hope this helps you.
Good luck
Hello dear!
The course has a wide scope in today's time, and also has a bright future.
Also, being a parent you might be concerned about your daughter. So, do not worry about her unless and until she herself likes the course and is interested in. The course is absolutely safe for girls. All is fine. And choose a good college for her.
All the best!
Hi Jhinuk,
A frank opinion: CSE at Manipal > CSE at MIT (You’ll have to spend lakhs)
Otherwise if following are your requirements:
Govt. College, IIIT Tag, Less financial burden, High returns (if you work your ass off), 10 years down the line you’d want to be part of a vibrant alumni network : IIIT Bhubaneswar
