How to prepare for MIT manipal exam?

Hello Samarth,

Manipal University conducts an online entrance test every year to get into Manipal Academy of Higher Education. This test is called as MET (MANIPAL ENTRANCE TEST).

To get a good rank in MET, you must target a score above 140 marks.

Manipal University conducts various entrance exams but For B.Tech aspirants especially, the syllabus is as follows :

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • English and general aptitude

MET EXAM Pattern :

  • The entrance examination is a computer based exam.
  • The test duration is of 2.5 hours.
  • There is no negative marking.
  • There are 200 questions in total.
  • The subject wise distribution of questions alloted is as follows :

1. Mathematics : 70 questions

2. Physics : 50 questions

3. Chemistry : 50 questions

4. English and general aptitude  : 30 questions

Tips to Score good :

  • Since there is no negative marking in the entrance exam, you can intelligently guess some questions and gain a pretty good score.
  • As you are getting 150 minutes only to solve 200 questions, you must have a really good speed and accuracy.
  • Firstly, Attempt those questions which you are familiar with. So that you don't get stressed in the starting of the exam.
  • As mathematics section is the most toughest one and carrying a good marks, you can follow tricks for scoring good in maths particularly :

1. Refer A Dasgupta, solve its examples and solved problems at least.

2. Do calculus and coordinate geometry thoroughly. This topic covers most of the questions.

3. You can also use Arihant handbook.

  • For Physics, apart from studying NCERT, practice questions from HC Verma. This will be very helpful to you.
  • For Chemistry, go through the NCERT Book as it covers a good theory part.
  • You can also solve past year papers and attempt mock tests as much as possible. You may refer to the following book :

1. Solved Papers and 5 Mock Tests for Manipal UGET (MAHE) Engineering by Arihant.

  • You should solve at least 30 MCQs of each subject from these daily to have a good time management and speed accuracy.
  • NCERTs are a must for all subjects. So it's my kind request to you to go through the NCERT Books instead of referring to so many reference books.
  • Remember to study English and General Aptitude also to easily score 30 marks. Students don't study English as most of them find it easy, but it's not such. Please go through the Grammer and comprehensive part well.

Hope this helps!!

Good Luck :)

So, give your fullest during the preparation.

However, time management is an important skill for ENAT, as you have to solve 240 questions in only 2.5 hours.

MU OET 2018 Syllabus of Physics

Mathematical Induction; Summation of Finite Series; Theory of Equations; Binomial Theorem; Mathematical Logic; Analytical Geometry; Trigonometry; Algebra; Limits and Continuity; Elements of Number Theory; Vectors; Matrices and Determinants; Analytical Geometry; Circles; Conic Sections (Analytical Geometry); Complex Numbers;
This will help you to plan a strategy as to what are your weak areas and what are your strong areas and how much time you should devote to each subject and topic.
The other thing which you should be aware of is the exam pattern. This will help you to know the strategy that you need to adopt on that particular day.

There will be a total number of 200 questions. There are 50 questions from Physics, 50 Questions and Chemistry, 50 questions from Mathematics, and English and general aptitude. Candidates can answer the questions in 2:30 hours. For every correct answer, candidates will get one mark and there is no negative marking.

I cleared IIT JAM Physics with 27.33 marks(GEN). Should I take a drop and reappear for JAM or go to Manipal University for Msc Photonics?

Hi. It will depend on you what you want to do. But if next time you crack iit jam then it will definitely good for your whole life. One year can give you so much. And if you now take admission in the manipal university then you know that it is not comparible with iits. So i give my suggestions and now its on up to you.

Best of luck for next time!

How many marks should we get in met exam to get seat in manipal and also to get got branch and we can join by not passing the exam or not?

dharmesh.me26_8493541 Student Expert 31st Mar, 2019

Hi Narella!

Manipal University conducts an online entrance test to provide admissions to students in their programs. If a candidate gets marks in the range of 100–110 out of 200 in MUOET then he/she will be able to secure admission in B.tech course.

But for branches like Mechanical, CSE or IT, one need to have following scores:

  • Mech - 125 or above
  • CSE - 150 or above
  • IT - 135 and above

I hope I solved your query. All the best for your preparations!

Is there were donation seats in manipal university????

Oishik_1553142611 Student Expert 28th Mar, 2019

Hello Sir. Manipal University is one of the best top private universities in the country. It does not provide donation seats. There is an NRI category. They should pay more than double the actual fee. If the student has an immediate relative who is living abroad, then he/she is eligible to apply in MIT under NRI quota, by paying a fees higher than the general one.

Is manipal institute of technology is a good engineering college or not?

Ayush 26th Mar, 2019

Hello Indira,

It depends on what you actually want from the college

Well there are many categories to the answer to your question

So let's start.

General life -

  • As far as life outside academics is concerned this is a great college. This college literally has so many options for you to venture into.

  • From student clubs to proper technical clubs like the solar Mobil project and formula Manipal (pretty cool trust me) trust me you don't want to waste your time.

  • Then there is the dramatics societies which don't do much but hey you can party like anything with them.

Sports-

  • The sports scene is quite interesting, we have two semi professional leagues in cricket and football (MIT Cricket league and MIT football league)

Food

  •   Now coming to the culinary options. Trust me, nothing like this place.

  • Ffs, Manipal has two Mexican restaurants! You have plenty of options and 9/10 you won't be disappointed with the gastronomy in Manipal. Messes are normally better than the ones in any engineering college

Academics-

  • The faculty for Mechanical and Civil is very liberal and very well endowed with knowledge but the quality of the syllabus is pathetic.

  • This affects a lot of things. Education is more marks driven rather than learning. You're judged be the teachers for getting a low CGPA no matter what they tell you otherwise.

  • It gets a lot worse if you're in ECE, EEE and CSE. The teachers are a nightmare over here for these branches. All the teachers focus on the amount of marks you get and hardly anyone makes sure whether you have learnt something.

  • There's an overload of assignments and tests like any other engineering college. But the labs are in a pathetic stage (especially mechanical and civil) you see a pattern here? You're gonna be a theoretical not a practical

    People-

    • the diversity is something to behold. You're gonna learn so much from students from different states that its beautiful.

    • Everyone has their own take on life and as a multi diverse college you're sure to interact with a lot of people. Many of my friends have grown more confident as the years have progressed. The freedom this place has to offer is unmatched. But not worth paying 20 lakhs.

    Placements-

    • Placements are not that good.

    • The companies treat you like a joke, pay packages are pretty low (except for if you're in the top 10% in CSE or ECE) and funnily at the time of writing this the college is pushing people towards TCS so that they can lie to you from the outside that we have a good placement scene.

    • People on college are happy with a decent job which is wrong given that we are pressurised so much in these three years. An average job doesn't do justice.

    • Truth is that companies back out each year and hence more people are pushed towards MRCs. Teachers who have taught you for three years push you towards MRCs so that their job is done which is pretty shameful.

    • College is really un-cooperative towards placements and don't give quality of companies arriving. It's all about quantity.

    OVERALL

Good interpersonal development and a good college life. Average teachers. Bad academics. Fucked up placements.
