my percentile is 78 in jee mains March attempt I am obc NCL .is any good nit chances for me ?????

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 2nd Apr, 2021

Hi

Your profile suggest that your home state is Uttar Pradesh

With 78 percentile

Your obc rank will be around 80,000.

With above  rank, you have very low   chances in NITs  For example,

Your home state is UP so you will be eligible for home state quota in NIT Allahabad but even under state quota your  chances are very low in NIT Allahabad

For instance, In 6th round of josaa counselling 2020, the closing rank for obc category in NIT Allahabad was 11478 obc rank under home state quota  and it was for biotechnology

Under other state also, your chances are very low.

For example, under other state quota closing rank for some of the lower NIT for OBC category is provided below as 6th josaa counselling 2020 :-

  • Nit Ap, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology) :- 14902  obc rank

  • Nit nagaland :- Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology) :-  15340 obc rank

  • National Institute of Technology Agartala    Production Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology :- 15659  obc rank

You can verify the above at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

So, to get a seat in NIT you should get at least around 15000 OBC rank i. e around 95 percentile, while for good NITs you should target at least 98 percentile.

Above prediction of is on the basis of past year data but  cut off/closing rank for colleges keeps changing every year depending upon many factors like number of students that appeared in the examination, difficulty level of the JEE main question paper for different shifts etc

To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to,  your home state, your gender etc, the link for  jee main college predictor is provided below

When I filled form of jee mains for Feb & March my catogary was general due to not availability of EWS certificate. I have 90.11 percentile in Feb result. After that I am filling form for April & May session with EWS certificate. Please confirm my Feb session marks will be considered in EWS/GEN

Anurag Khanna 1st Apr, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Yes of course, it will be considered because if you make correction in your application form and specially in category then it will be considered for all attempts, so even if you are General candidate and changing your category to Gen-EWS for further attempts in same application form then you will be considered under Gen-EWS category from now so your final ranking will also include your EWS rank.

Note that the EWS certificate should be of similar format as available on the official website of JOSAA :-

https://josaa.nic.in/webinfo/File/GetFile?FileId=10&LangId=P

And also try to make such corrections before April 4th 2021 because after you will not get chance to make corrections in your application form of JEE-Main 2021 before the application process of May 2021.

Note that you will not be allowed to edit all your details but only some details which are mentioned below :

> Personal Details like spelling mistakes, in your name or your father's name or your mother's name

> Information regarding the academic details like your class 10th details or class 12th details.

> Change of Paper will be allowed means the candidates will be allowed to change their choice of paper from Paper 1 to Paper 2 (and vice versa). Both papers can also be selected for which the candidates have to pay the balance fee.

> Language of Examination will also be allowed to be changed by the candidates within the list of available options.

> Name, State of Eligibility, and Date of Birth will also be open for correction during this correction window.

> The provision of changing categories selected by candidates in the application form is also provided to the candidates. If the candidates changed their category from general to reserved, then no refund of fees will be done. However, if the candidates change their category from reserved to general, then they have to pay the balance fee.

> You will also be allowed to remove any of your image discrepancy (if required) as per the prescribed criteria.

I score 87.5percentile in jeemains march attempt. Im able to get admission in nit jamshedpur of cse branch . I belongs to SC category

Anurag Khanna 10th May, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2020 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your CRL rank is expected to be in the range of 127875 - 143750 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that :-

Closing SC rank for NIT Jamshedpur was :-

  • CS Engineering branch - 2864 (Home state quota)
  • CS Engineering branch - 1993 (Other state quota)

And your SC rank is expected to be around 7500

So you have no chances to get NIT Jamshedpur with CSE branch even if you have Home state quota.

But yes if you improve your percentile in any further session of JEE-Main like around 95+ then you might have a shot at NIT Jamshedpur with CSE branch.

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To have a list of all those colleges which you can get based upon your marks, category, and state you can use JEE-Main College Predictor:-
