Hello,
Admission to the PhD in Mechanical Engineering course is based on entrance test followed by an interview conducted by the various Universities. Candidates with UGC-NET (including JRF), UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF), SLET, GATE, teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil Program are exempted from Entrance Test but are required to appear for Interview.
a) Master’s degree with 55% aggregate marks in a relevant discipline or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST and Interview; b) Other conditions as prescribed in the Guidelines for Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programmes.(5% relaxation to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled candidates)
• An applicant will be short listed for interview on the basis of his/ her score in the entrance examination LPUNEST (Ph.D.). • The final selection for admission in Ph.D. will be based on the performance in Entrance Test (70% weightage) and Interview (30% weightage) subject to scoring minimum marks in the Interview.
Thankyou, I hope it helped you, feel free to approach for further queries.

Congratulations for your rank. With you rank, your cahnces of gettign admission in CEG Campus for M.E. Biomedical Engineering is less. But don't worry. You may try other colleges as well. Also the cutoffs depend on the paper difficulty level, no. of students appearing for the exam and counselling and also the no of seats available for a branch in the college. So cutoffs vary every year.
Sit for the counselling and try your luck. Hope you get your desired seat.
