In last year TNEA Councelling 2019 : Anna University(Code 0001) ;1) Why Computer Science Engg is not selected by SCA category at all . 2) Mining , Manufacturing Engineering , Printing Tech , Civil ( Tamil) ,Mech (Tamil) were Unchoosed in ST catogery in last year Anna University ? Can u Explain ?

Adithyan Manikandan 9th Jul, 2020

Hi Ezhil,

1) In TNEA counselling the seats are first filled in the open category, There are chances that the candidates might have got the seat allocated in general category. Also the the total allocation for SCA category is around 3% of the total colleges under anna university.

2) The cutoff rank for ST is lower compared to other categories, the candidate would have opted for other courses (preferably a circuit branch) since the courses you have mentioned required lower cutoff ranks even for the open category.

The common fact is that the rate of engineering admissions have decreased in 2019 compared to the previous years, this can be even one of the reasons the seats weren't filled.

As you are about to complete your Diploma in Mining Engineering, you can go for B.tech in Mining Engineering through lateral entry. It would be a three years course and you would get direct admission into the second year of B.tech.
Here's a list of engineering colleges in India offering B.tech in Mining Engineering through lateral entry
  • ICFAI University, Jharkhand.
  • University of Technology, Jaipur
  • Government College of Engineering , Keonjhar

  • Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology
  • CEG - College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University

Hope it helps

i got 98.5 percentile in jee mains ,iam obc can i get mining engineering in nit nagpur

S. Saha Student Expert 1st Jul, 2020
98.5 percentile means your expected rank would be around 13,035. This would be your rank in Common Rank list. Now if the no. Of candidates in Jee Main second phase increases, your rank would also increase. You can use our college predictor tool to know where you have good chances http://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor We don't have category rank as the second phase has not yet conducted. Now going by previous year' cutoff, you have fair chances of getting mining engineering in VNIT Nagpur. This is according to last year's cutoff and this year it might change. You can check the cutoffs here http://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff-for-vnit-nagpur

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 17th May, 2020
Hello,

Don't worry about that, no university will be able to give admission to students without waiting for their graduation to get over and due to Covid-19 pandemic most of the colleges are closed and the semester exams are on hold.As soon the all the colleges will reopen, all the university will provide application for admission and same goes for law colleges too.

I hope this helps.

i regreted to join nit raipur mining and took a drop and joined in iit is what i did correct,i am in dilemma

Shivang Dubey 19th Jun, 2020

Hey Shiva

If you have already Indian Institute of Technology after drop then your decision would be considered positive as IITs and a higher reputation, better academics and placement record than NITs. Also studying in IITs open chances for more opportunities and provides a great environment with other smart candidates. NITs are also reputed colleges of India and have good academics and opportunities but does not align with IITs every time.

Please do not worry and give your 100% to the course you have taken admission in so that your decision becomes fruitful. For further doubts, ask us.

From job and Salary point of view it is good as you can get job in these firlds, Coal India Limited , Tata Steel , Rio Tinto (Australia/India), Electrosteel, Vizag Steel, Monet Ispat, Vedanta, HZL, HCL, etc. But problem i sthat you will be posted mainly in Remote Areas where you can't get a proper Environment and good work- life balance.

You can go for Higher studies like Mba or Mtech.

i have done BE in Electronics. can i take admission in Mining Descipline in Section B directly

Sonali Sahu Student Expert 14th Apr, 2020
Hello ,
No you can't do like that. You have to pursue ME in electronics with a specialization domain. You can't pursue other domain. It is not available in India as there is learning path for every domain. It made such that students won't jump in streams which will hamper their career.
It would be a good career option if you do job and distance education for ME or full time in ME in IIT or NIT. It will increase your market value and get recognized in top companies.  Basic of your experience will be your skills which will gives best work to the company to rise.

Hope it helps!
